Some thoughts:

1) Clean up the plural duplicates, e.g. peanut/peanuts, leek/leeks, carrot/carrots, etc.

2) I've never considered the author, is that common?

3) Mode to toggle pictures on would help scanning, cooking is very visual

4) Not simple to design, but some way to have either/or ingredients (e.g. peanuts OR cashews) could be useful

- what companies exist

- what countries they serve

- what products they offer

- how large they are (users, employees)

- whether the employees are happy

- how much they've raised

- whether they're part of the social "zeitgeist"

By most measures, both for ad platforms and advertisers (and subsequently users), audience-targeted ads outperform context-targeted ads. You could go back to a world of only context-targeted ads, but publishers would need to make their business models work with lower RPMs, advertisers with lower ROAS, and users with less relevant ads (to them).

How many pageviews are you doing per month and what is your Google Adsense RPM? Before throwing advertising out, wondering if the ads are working as effectively as they should.

In addition, agree with keiferski that ebooks could be a good path forward.

You could also do classes or "bootcamps" for skills training.

The taxes you're referring to, I presumed, are things like DMV fees. Those are used for things like roads (construction, repair, salting, plowing, etc), bridges, highway patrols, etc. They aren't market rate because they don't actually cover their stated purpose, thus are subsidized from other taxes. Additionally, they don't price in externalities like noise, pollution, emergency services due to accidents, death and injury to persons, etc.

The scooters are indeed left on sidewalks. Luckily the 20 pound scooters aren't actually killing or maiming people, spouting out toxins into the air, ripping up the asphalt, blaring "honk" noises at all hours of the day, etc. Not much of a public nuisance all things considered :)

+1, wish they would start towing cars that park on the sidewalk.

Parking fees, tolls, taxes, etc aren't market rate.

Also, visit any of the neighborhoods on the western half of San Francisco and you'll discover that it's de facto not allowed to be handicapped or pushing a stroller due to cars owning the sidewalks.

Meanwhile, dockless cars park wherever they want, block sidewalks, inhabit large swaths of the city without paying to do so, etc.

One of the problems is that people misclassify pit bulls all the time. Dog bites someone and looks like a terrier type? Pit bull!

There have actually been studies to show that the precision in which shelter workers and other professionals can identify a pit bull is startingly low and the error rate of mislabeling non-pits as pit bulls is surprisingly high.

And "large" is a loose definition out here. There are some places with weight restrictions at 50 lbs, and I've started seeing more and more at 35 lbs or even 25 lbs!

I have a pit bull who is amazingly well behaved, including having a CGC (Canine Good Citizen) training certificate. However, moving in to an apartment in San Francisco was damn near impossible. I was on the brink of leaving the bay area because of how hard it was to find someone willing to rent to me, until I found a private landlord who took pity on me.

Many times I had friends suggest I just lie and say my dog was an emotional support animal. It was quite tempting because of how awful it can be to find a place to rent in SF with a dog. If you think it's bad and you're not a pet owner, imagine it being 10x worse. The only reason I didn't do that was because I didn't want to contribute to rules like this which make it harder for people who really need the ESA.

They haven't really been caught on anything. These aren't ad measurement results saying they did reach more people than exist, this is a reach estimation service. It's a technically complex problem that needs to take an arbitrary targeting spec with boat loads of dimensionality and return a reach estimate in 100s of milliseconds. It's based on a sampling method, of course. The reach estimation tool is a planning tool for approximations and nothing more. That's why advertisers aren't making a big fuss.

Looking for an apartment in the Bay Area is impossible with a dog. Doubly so if your dog is more than 30 lbs (really a large cat). Triply so if you have one of the breeds the large apartment complexes don't allow.

That's why I was wondering. For companies that need to scale, a high false negative rate is inherently costly. But, if you only need to hire a small number of people that may be a cost you're willing to eat.
