I can not believe that he thinks software's biggest problem is that most of it is free. His description of users as "bait" whose habits will be tracked (which seldom occurs with free software, I can only think of fewer examples than the number of fingers on my one hand) seems to exclude the fact that paid software (hello! Windows 10?!) can do the same thing.

Dear God, now I remember why I do not program in C++ anymore (Go and C# all the way!). That pre-11 code looked awful. If networking was nicer, I might actually start considering recoding some of my projects in C++.

So the default behavior is to only email root unless crontab is edited, therefore most people would never receive an email (in case of renew failure), if they only followed the instructions given.
Otherwise mail is sent to the owner of the crontab.
But is not the default account that it would email root? I run Debian and almost never log in as root. Would all admin sudoers receive the email?
Ewwww, that renewCerts.sh is pretty crappy. Who the hell is going to check the /var/log/letsencrypt/renew.log everyday to see if renewing failed?
Could not they do something nicer with systemd and email?

When reading the beginning of the article, I did not get what the big deal was. It seemed to me that W3C just wanted to standardize existing DRM on the web and if you did not want to use DRM, then do not visit the site.
But then I came to the part where developers can be sued under DMCA for trying to reverse-engineer the DRM (which inhibits new browsers, if they do not want to use proprietary binary blobs) and worst of all:
It would be a return to the bad old days of websites that advised that they were "Best viewed with Netscape" or "Best viewed with Internet Explorer," because the new browsers would be locked out of some of their content.
I would like to say that this was the first book I read when I wanted to learn how to program in Go and I am eternally grateful to the author. It basically covers a large portion of the language and most of what one actually does when programming.

That list can easily be made longer. Off of the top of my head I know that there are many more projects which have switch languages to Go. What they say most of the time is (from the article):

I have started to develop mobile applications with NativeScript and I am absolute in love with it. It has an Angular feel to it (I despise all things React). Before, I had only been doing backend work and I still have only taken care of the Web API portion of our NS app, but I hope to do some GUI soon. I am extremely impressed by NS.
