I did some more research. It looks like there is a way to recover if you don't have the phone number or the old device. They have an online form you fill out with your old phone number and new phone number. Then they have some process to verify ownership of the phone numbers which they say will take several days for security purposes.

It is equivalent to following someone around a store and writing down how long they look at each item on the shelves, what they pick up, what they put back, etc.
Authy recovery requires you to have access to the same phone number when you want to restore to a new device.

From channels that I have heard talk about it, google ads make up a minority of their revenue. Perhaps it is not the most representative example but Linus Tech Tips only made 26% of their revenue from YouTube AdSense in 2020.

An issue that Stadia had with cross play is that controller and KB/M were both very common ways to play. Controller players would not want to play against PC users with keyboards. And Keyboard users would have an unfair advantage against console players with controllers. I think one game changed which you were matchmaked against depending on which input method you were using.

Many people play 30 FPS games on TVs that add 100+ ms of latency. Some people will buy 240 Hz gaming monitors with sub-1 ms response times but I think your underestimate what most people are okay with.
Since there were much fewer games on Stadia, your game had a much bigger chance of getting discovered. And if they got their game into Stadia Pro (subscription) they would benefit from its generous revenue share. Hundred Days - Winemaking Simulator made 25% of their revenue from Stadia.

I've used it almost exclusively for gaming since it was released. I've occasionally had issues with poor connection over WiFi but most of the time it has worked flawlessly. I know the latency is higher than a locally running game but I'm not doing side by side comparisons so I don't notice it. With this news I guess I'll be switching to GeForce Now which supports higher quality and framerates but a worse UX in my experience. In my opinion the business case for GeForce Now makes less sense than Stadia but I guess the numbers of overs makes more of a difference.
