There's a well-known reason for these requirements: they are an attrition tactic. It erects barriers to obtaining insurance benefits. Many give up, reducing the costs to the insurance company. It happens with WAY more than chairs, and is fundamentally unethical.

And by writing that way they likely underweight the PR risk to their business. It's their choice, but it sure as hell just turned me off.

Those terms bind Slack users. This problem goes away if the maintainer doesn't use Slack and has never used Slack. It wouldn't be efficient, but it'd be possible.

Here is the hard thing to swallow: Some people are worth more than others.

This type of rhetoric is what put an incompetent lying reality television star in the White House. Signaling to people they are worth less than others hurts them on an emotional level regardless of veracity. People who are emotionally hurt can and will make problems for you.

People with high emotional intelligence understand this, will avoid pressing that button, and will achieve better outcomes in their endeavors as a result.
