I'm surprised Malta hasn't been discussed (tiny island in the mediterranean, just south of Sicily). I arrived here 5 years ago thinking it would be a paradise (its not). Below are my generalisations:

Upside = Best weather in Europe, English speaking, 100Mb/s fiber, cheap ryanair flights to most of Europe, cheap rent compared to Northern Europe - luxury 3 bed flat around 800 Euro.

Downside = Extremely conservative and religious state run by the church (abortion is illegal even if mothers life is at risk - WTF). 10 year prison sentences for possession of Marijauana. Extremely narrow minded people. Ugly, very dry, dirty polluted beaches, lots of rock and very little green. Very poor standard of food at restaurants and even supermarkets.

I'm leaving for the Netherlands, can't wait!

Just remember that with the lower end dedicated servers you are dealing with desktop class hardware. With the last server I received from them one of the HD's in a raid1 was dead and although they replaced it quickly I was required to reconfigure it wasting quite a bit of time.

Actually no, the tiny island of Malta where i'm currently stationed has only recently seen it's first retail Apple store (not official Apple store) and they lock the laptops down for security reasons such that you cannot pick them up to test how they feel and weigh in the hand. Crazy, I know.

Thanks prody, thats really helpful. I've also got an awful habit of consuming media content on my laptop whilst lying back in bed and on the sofa etc. Do you ever do this and find the 15" cumbersome or heavy in these situations?

We recently provisioned a new 32GB server from Hetzer. The server was delivered with only one of the two raid1 drives working. When I complained they said it would take a few hours to replace and then it was up to me to figure out how to rebuild the 2nd drive as part of the array. All I expected was a working server from the start, anything that went wrong after that I would have been happy to resolve myself. Very poor service, we've already moved to uk2.net. Also don't forget that Hetzner uses desktop class hardware in most of their servers.

FWIW, I'd have paid $50 p.a, I don't have many notifications setup but those that I do are important enough to actually prefer to pay for the service. Thanks team Notifo!

Anyone know of anything similar that works with Android?
