I would encourage reading about Jim Allison (the nobel prize winner in medicine for immunotherapy) and his difficulty having his research acknowledged / getting funding as an immunologist working in cancer research.

Wired magazine did a piece on him detailing how funding for this type of research was largely stonewalled because it ignored status quo ideas on cancer treatment.

My understanding is that traditionally ovt research was nearly impossible to get funding for but has begun to become easier as the status quo research and researchers from the 2000s have been replaced.

The question is when the model can make money from advertising.

If the ai is asked to recommend products, does it show an ad or even an argument for paying for some product.

Has kept surprisingly well over time, with some hiccups around platforn version changes.

There are a couple of weird things in my experience, like the old implementation of zip, but by and large it was mostly either restrictions of js itself or browser implementations of js.

Lodash has and still is a good standard / reference for these simple operations imo.

Running Postgres in production since 2017. Some trivia required, but nothing like priest knowledge needed for MySQL.

I love not having to be trivia king.

If something is already built, why do they need your hundred million?

This is beyond the scope of my knowledge, but what I can say is that the original issue in the 90s arose from a fear of too many doctors coupled with too much spending on said doctors which resulted in multiple regulatory changes to prevent this outcome.

The reason for the scarcity of talent/ doctors is due to a regulation change in 1983/1996 that wasn't adjusted until last year that was restricting the number of residency spots for doctors in the US.

*Also note this has been slightly fixed with an increase of residency spots, but still puts the US in position to have fewer doctors per person than almost all other developed countries.

The engine failures are mostly for combustion, and have resulted in multiple deaths, including nearly my own.

Hyundai has been having engine failures, would not recommend as experienced spontaneous engine failure on a less than year old car. Check consumer reports or source below.

The parallels are definitely there. Two issues happening are imo primary causes, corporate consolidation and the move towards "Demand-driven Supply Chain".

For much of this article, I know nothing.

But on the one area I can speak intelligently about, video games, this article is dead wrong. There has been an explosion of experimentation in terms of anything measurable: genres, art styles, etc. And from a product/ company point of view, this can be seen by the diversity of who is winning. The largest game in the world in terms of revenue AND number of users is Minecraft, which looks zero like the next best selling game.

This makes me think the whole article is wrong.

No bailout. Investors and executive wiped out. Depositors will be made 100% whole. Fed did its job today and prevented a mass bank run.
