If you are concerned with lockout and want offline, interoperable backups of your 2auth codes I strongly recommend Raivo. It can’t import from google authenticator directly, but it’s possible to extract the secrets with some docker script, and then enter them manually into Raivo.
Yeah, definately. I would like the leaderboard to be for only humans. But it seems futile to try to ban it and enforce it in any meaningful way, without changing the concept. An honorsystem just stating "if you wish to use a languagemodel like gpt, then please wait before the leaderboard is filled" might work, but I'm not sure.
A lot of people compete to try to get on the global leader boards, which I find quite fun, also makes me wake up at 05:30 am every day!
But yeah, this probably mostly helps for easier problems, and is quite useless when either the problem needs a cleaver construction or some trick to make the time complexity good enough.

In the blogpost it actually comes up with a linear stack based solution (one of the intended solutions) to a problem where the naive solution is quadratic.
I mean, that GPT solves problem 1,3,4 of AoC this year does not translate into it solving all problems, not even close.
For example, try giving ChatGPT the problem statement of https://adventofcode.com/2021/day/19. What comes out is basically gibberish. It seems to completely miss that the scanners report their coordinates in their own coordinate system.
But if nothing changes in the rules/community the leaderboards of early and more straight forward problems will probably be filled with GPT solutions.
I mean, it didn't really do well on day2, right? At least no fully automatic solution, since first star was after 1:49. Possibly not as many people tried doing it then though. But the statement was also more complicated (and a bit strange - giving you points both for winning and for the move you did).
Looks cool. A bit strange with a 2.4k single php-file implementation though. If it works, it works I guess.

There are quite a lot of delicious vegan alternatives. Some cheeses seem difficult to reinvent as vegan options, but the rest that you mention definitely have great alternatives. Those alternatives were a lot worse 5 years ago. The dairy industry will probably not vanish completely or directly, but when the vegan alternatives are good enough for the majority, combined with a generational shift the dairy industry will start decreasing rapidly.
So the notion that "it would never happen" is a bit silly imo. I predict that the global dairy industry will be cut by half in 10 years.
I was not claiming the revocation system only has the purpose of protecting Apple's business model, but its one of the purposes.
Even though I agree that in the Epic case, most of the blame lies with Epic, I still have a problem with Apple: the signature revocation system is used for more things than removing malware. I think it is user hostile and anti consumer to disable installed apps on other grounds, because the users might be dependent on them.
I'd like to be able to run programs and apps on my machine that are not Apple-approved.
Well even if Epic are the bad guys by violating the ToU willingly, it still impacts the user. As a user I don't want my apps (which I depend on) to stop working, because of a business disagreement.
Revoking signatures and disabling the apps on user devices to protect your business model is definitely anti-consumer in my book.
You could easily see Apple revoking signatures because of DMCA claims. Even faulty ones, like the claim RIAA made against youtube-dl on GitHub.

In recent years, the NSA and the German BND have also been accused of massive illegal domestic spying. Thorough investigations have shown that was not the case, although their employees were sometimes careless and it was technically not always possible to do what was legally required.
Absurd statement from the article. What investigations? Internal from the NSA? It's like saying "No the NSA are not collecting data on Americans because Mr. Clapper said so to the Senate under oath."
I'm quite happy with the new release. It's faster, and I've not had any problems with crashes.
Also the three plugins I regularly use worked when I got the release pushed to me (more than a week ago).
