I'm no fan of e.g. Jeff Bezos. But here are a few things he doesn't do with his money:

- Kill People - Torture people - Lock people up

So I'd much rather have him keep his money than have to hand it over to people who will use it for these purposes. Yeah, I know, I know, they build roads and it's absolutely impossible to build roads without extorting the entire population.

Am I the only one having DNS issues with this site? For some reason, no matter which DNS server I query, it resolves to my router, yet it seems most everyone reaches it without issue.

Made me cough out my hit. Well worth it. Thanks for that.

I took a class with Professor Carse in NYU circa 1990. It was definitely among my favorite classes in my entire college experience even though he insisted on holding it early in the morning and I was invariably hung over and tired.

It's really nice to see quotes from this book come up from time to time. Seems it's finally finding its audience decades after publication, which is gratifying. Great book; great thinker and lecturer.

Amusing(ish) anecdote: After college I worked as a live audio engineer and once did sound for his sons' band, name "Urban Blight." Sort of a funky, 90's NYC band. Nothing spectacular, but pretty good stuff.

Thank you. This is why I come to the comments first.

Well, it only gave me one song: "Internal Server Error". I searched for it on Spotify, but can't find it.

Snark aside, great concept; looking forward to trying it when it comes back up.

YES! His premises are wrong, but his conclusions are spot on. I really hope regulators learn to think like that.

Lastly, I hate philosophy because I spent an entire semester reading and studying and still have no answer to what freedom really means.

"Computers are useless. They only give answers." - Pablo Picasso

I think you missed the point of philosophy. It's pretty much all about pondering questions you can't answer. Once you manage to answer them, you're not doing philosophy any more but have moved into the realm of science.

Why Gen X Failed 4 years ago

Yeah. My immediate gen-x thought: "you keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."
