Every AI subscription is a ticking time bomb for the frontier provider; within a few years we will be running local models as good as today’s frontier models with almost no cost burden. The floor will fall out of the enterprise market for all the frontier companies.
Nothing so far, but I'm keeping an eye on it and debating just canceling entirely.
I recently had my automatic reload double charge me $100. I tried reaching out to Anthropic, but my only option (of course) was a chat agent. After going through a conversation with it, I was told someone would reach out to help with the matter. Never happened. I eventually reached out to my credit-card company and did a dispute, which they just ruled in my favor.

I've been using Cursor / Claude Code to open my Vault folder, or a sub-folder in the vault; since Obsidian is stored in .MD files you can chat with your LLM about whatever info is in there. I used this to review and prepare for interviews, and it was extremely effective in helping me land my new job.
Serous question - why do people stick with Clause Code over Cursor? With Cursors base subscription I have access to pretty much all the Frontier models and can pick and choose. Anthropic models haven’t been my go-to in months, Gemini and Codex produce much better results for me.

I’ve owned two model Ys over the past 5 years or so. Zero maintenance issues. I also had a 2020 Model 3 that I recently sold and it had 1 issue with the small secondary battery after 5 years. Tesla charged me ~$140 to come to my house and replace it.
I always loved Alien and Blade Runner because of this shared aesthetic. It gave the sense that the doomed ship Nostromo departed Blade Runner earth.
One other semi-unrecognized advantage Valve has over consoles is their generous return policy. I’ve bought many games on a whim knowing if I don’t jive with it I can safely get a full refund. Contrast that with my Ps5 where my 2 year old managed to smash buttons while I was tied up on a work call and bought COD for $69 bucks… no way to refund it and I’m not a fan of shooters. Basically Fd on that one.
How can I prevent Windows 10 from upgrading to 11? I have a gaming pc that's basically just for VR, and is ~5 years old. I play non-VR on my SteamDeck, so really I just want to keep my old pc gaming box running on 10 for (occasional) VR gaming at this point... also, pretty heavily invested in Steam (VR and non-VR) so I really prefer not to switch to something like Meta Quest, etc.

As a Sig 320 owner, and someone that knows at least 3 other sig 320 owners, I disagree. None of us ever carry our weapon chambered. I probably know 10+ guys that own guns, including a few police officers, and I'm going to ask the officers about this because honestly, I would be surprised if they even carried their weapons chambered.
You forgot to mention that the gun also needs to have a bullet chambered. Not exactly how I would carry a holstered weapon, but hey, I’m 100% certain people do exactly that. Especially in a military situation so I’m not judging.

According to my accountant for my wife’s small business (nail and wax salon) this tax law change will have a significant positive impact on her staff. Not sure what to make of this article, it seems pretty disingenuous.
Agree - I’m 58 and still do the same workout I did in my 30s and 40s including 3 sets of 15 to 20 pull-ups depending on the day. I also still skate (hockey) 2 -3 times a week with a bunch of retired pros (echl, nhl, etc) and typically put up a bunch of points every skate (possibly slightly more assists now but I attribute that more toward enjoying that more these days and not needing to be so flashy)
Ditto - I’m on Zen browser a FF fork, it’s a clone of Arc and quite love it. No way I’m going back to chrome or any chromium browsers.
You’re probably thinking of The Browser Companies Dia Browser (replaced Arc). Came out last month, same AI focus.

I was using Claude 3.7 exclusively for coding, but it sure seems like it got worse suddenly about 2–3 weeks back. It went from writing pretty solid code I had to make only minor changes to, to being completely off its rails, altering files unrelated to my prompt, undoing fixes from the same conversation, reinventing db access and ignoring existing coding 'standards' established in the existing codebase. Became so untrustworthy I finally gave OpenAi O3 a try and honestly, I was pretty surprised how solid it has been. I've been using o3 since, and I find it generally does exactly what I ask, esp if you have a well established project with plenty of code for it to reference.
Just wondering if Claude 3.7 has seemed differently lately for anyone else? Was my go to for several months, and I'm no fan of OpenAI, but o3 has been rock solid.
This is why I’m using Zed now, and Claude Code. I like to keep Zed pretty minimal and I’m slowly weening off of Cursor in favor of Claude Code when I need it
Agree, I recently started using Zed as my primary IDE, with Cursor as my secondary when I need an llm to write a lot code. I really prefer the less hard in approach of Zed so far. I’ve intentionally not enabled any of the Ai add-on / free trial Claude stuff to keep Zed less intrusive.
Btw - I try to always check in and have a clean slate before I get Cursor involved, that way if it goes nuts rewriting stuff or flat out fails at the task I can easily discard the change.
Maybe so, but we’re teaching it these kinds of lines of thinking. And whether or not it creates these thoughts independently and creatively on its own, over the long lifetime of the systems we are the ones introducing dangerous data sets that could eventually cause us as a species harm. Again, I understand that fiction is just fiction, but if that’s the model that these are being trained off of intentionally or otherwise, then that is the model that they will pursue in the future.
None of this fits losing a lifelong friend that lives in another state now, which is what happened to me after having kids recently.
I suspect in my scenario it was his lack of having kids and the ability to do so (they are not able to have kids). Best I can tell is it was painful for him to see / hear about my life with kids now.
Because our relationship had become long distance it mostly centered around long phone calls or gaming / vr sessions together ever month or so. I basically stopped trying to schedule these interactions because it became clear it was having such a negative impact on his emotions. I initially tried to avoid talking at all about kids and all that but it didn’t seem to help the situation.
Anyway that’s what I just went through and at this point I don’t know if we’ll ever connect again, it’s been 6 months since we exchanged emails, which used to be daily / multiple exchanges a week.
If I move off Cursor, it's def not going to be to another vs-code derivative. Zed has it right - build it from the ground up, otherwise, MS is going to kneecap you at some point.
Thx for posting this I never ran across it before. I too played the original when it came out and actually wrote to Atari after I found the invisible dot and the hidden room / Easter egg. They wrote me back and told me I was one of the first people to find / report it to them which was kind of an honor for my eight-year-old self. I wish I kept that letter lol
