He hired real doctors right? Not like witch doctors or faith healers or something? I wonder was there an issue of them not being able to tell the boss no, no matter how screwy his ideas were?

I know Putin is also doing a similar thing, he has a team of doctors who are supposed to keep him alive forever. But he certainly seems the sort of boss you cant disagree with or give bad news to (we can see that in how he commands the war) so maybe he will also hopefully die sooner than we think.

Ok, theres defo a lot of idiots on HN and in USA who disagree with you.

Still, kinda weird to complain about bureaucracy and regulations in this context cus its the only solution to these problems of egality and corruption which humanity has been struggling with ever since the dawn of civilisation.

Tho, It's kind of a solved problem too. We should all just try to be like Denmark, they at the top or near the top of practially every metric. Happiness, corruption index, Gini, Quality of life, healthcare, education, carbon. They have a massive powerful bureaucracy, lots of strong regulation, extremely high taxes, low corruption.

The solution to any eco-geo-political issue is just "be more like Denmark". Once everyone gets to that level we can think about further improvement.

And no committee, no bureaucracy, no regulations, just let corporations do whatever they want, works great right!? It's not like it immediately collapses to despotism as the slightly bigger fish gobbles up everything in a positive feedback process.

With an egalitarian government, corruption is a problem, its bad, its something we try to fight and there are mechanisms to do so. Having no government is just giving up and going straight to 100% corruption.

Yes, thats exactly what uni is for.. To learn all those previous centuries of stuff before you can either start contributing to the corpus yourself, or go get a job (Where you will pick up more immediately useful stuff)

We really dont understand how AI is working, even the earliest "genetic algorithms" could be incomprehensible, but computer systems in general, they're not really that complicated.. its like an audio mixing desk..it looks insanely complicated until you realise it's just the same few knobs repeated many times for many channels. High level languages, compilers, assembly, machine code, nand, mosfets. A single person really can understand it all.

"forget those AAA blockbusters" fine, they suck ass anyway, the producers and money men meddling in the creative process results in shit. If youre subscribing to giant services like netflix or spotify or whatever practically none of the money is going to the talented creative people who actually make the stuff anyway.

I vote with my wallet and never support DRM and shit I deem unethical. I go out of my way to directly support stuff I want to see more of.. supporting artists I like on Patreon, bandcamp, buying directly from them, etc. Also when I support stuff like that I do actually get the files.

If you pay for this shit you are a fool. I dont even torrent shit sourced from steaming cus its so heavily compressed, not worth watching. People are giving real money to these services and they wont even provide enough bandwidth for decent quality.. Another point in favour of torrents, we get as much bandwidth as we need, no data centres required, just people sharing.

The monied are all dogpiling money, water, electricity, pc hardware into it in their classic stupid tulipomania way (Just like with NFTs and Crypto before)

The management class in corporations are obsessed with it, they are delusional and think they can finally use it achieve their dreams of having no workers. They are forcing their workers to use it somehow. The are also foisting it unasked onto consumers in their products in the most stupid way. just wrecking their products.

And the reality of it is that.. The current crop of LLMs are excellent chatbots; they're very good at fooling a human into believing that they are intelligent.. They're good for shitposting and making silly images.. They have a few other quite situational niche uses, but that's about it.

I'm just pissed off at the stupidity and waste of it all. Like the Easter Islanders, our elites are driving our society straight into the ground.

I've actually been playing some Quake mods recently..

But when it came out I found Quake dissapointing. I still feel that DOOM is a more fun game. It's just always way more fun to kill 10 weak enemies rather than one super tanky one. Also the art style of DOOM is more varied and vivid and fun and heavy metal.. Quake is so dull and dour and brown. Even the movement in Quake seems a bit off imo, its too easy for your great honking non-rotating cube hitbox to get hung up on tiny bits of geometry (I know its actually a point, but it works out the same a non rotating cuboid).. Also making new maps and enemies and content just seems so easy in DOOM.. There is some great modern Quake content (mentioned above) but the amount of stuff for DOOM dwarfs it.

Its fucking crazy that people are using these systems for important tasks like hiring. They have zero understanding about how these systems work. And LLMs are absolutely not designed to do those sorts of jobs, they're designed to be chatbots and to fool a human conversing them that they are responding intelligently. Of course they're gonna be useless at other tasks.

(I assume they're just using a big LLM for this, it doesnt say, it just says "AI" when they say "AI like that they usually mean LLM".. A custom trained hiring ML system would be better)
