I wonder what this means for SEO? If they are actually fully rendering pages in javascript I guess that means you have to be a lot more careful about how pages are laid out.

This is a much better visualization of the earthquake data than the static image on the USGS website. Really cool usage of google maps. I wonder if it could do a worldwide map, there probably are a lot more earthquakes in the rest of the world!

PHP using __autoload and namespaces looks and feels exactly like Python using imports. You see, the PHP developers have been actively improving a lot of aspects of the language recently, and the latest release, 5.3, had a ton of really nice improvements and features, such as namespaces.

I'm not going to say PHP is the greatest language every invented, and in fact I am a huge fan of Python. But I do not think PHP deserves the "In a good language..." treatment. It is a language that is getting better everyday, with a strong and vibrant development community and massive user adoption. It is a good language.

This campaign is ridiculous. People don't want to run their own mail server, because Google can do it better. They understand and are willing to sacrifice ownership of their data for the convenience of letting Google manage it. Given this, the difference between using their javascript frontend and an open source mail client is so minimal in comparison I don't even see the point. Gmail's frontend is also much better than Thunderbird or any OSS client's I've ever used.
