Hey, I really like what you're doing. It's great that you generate easily shareable links. I'm working on homestocompare.com which helps with house hunting in the UK. Would it be okay to link to individual results on your site?

Shame this post did not gain much traction. I'd be interested in hearing what others have to say. Are there other similar tools out there? Is this likely to lead to a new path for GIS apps? Might be worth reposting as a ShowHN in a few days time.

I'd love to resurrect my open source real estate website builder:

https://github.com/etewiah/property_web_builder

I was quite active with updating it a few years ago but haven't had the time to work on it recently.

On another project of mine I have been using aider and co-pilot and realised I could bring property_web_builder back to life with these tools. It would motivate me massively to do this if at least one or two other people were willing to work with me on this.

Thanks - I hope to be able to release it in the next few days.

Finding the right content to use for the podcast is quite important and I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to involve the community. Currently I host the audio files and GitHub and anyone is invited to contribute to that.

I checked out your Spotify and there is some good content there but I imagine it will be hard to rank on there.

Would you be interested in collaborating? I am based in the UK and I have some ideas around location based podcasts as well.

Wow this is awesome. I've actually been working on something very similar. In my case though I focus on individual stories. Like the commenter above I feel audio doesn't work so well for general overview.

I haven't done a showHN yet because it's not quite ready but you can see where it's at here:

https://news.gipety.com/hn/10842381/k/218/s/three-years-as-a...

I think it would be quite a nice way to give a second life to classic episodes of past showHNs and askHNs.

Nice. I asked a few days ago about alternatives to NotebookLM with an API and didn't get good answers.

I have started creating some audio podcasts of popular hacker news threads here:

https://github.com/etewiah/gipety-for-hacker-news

Will probably do a "Show HN" about it tomorrow or friday. If I get the chance I will try to do a couple using podcastfy (I agree with the other comment though - the name could be better..)

Great work - thanks for sharing.

Ha ha, love this.

It just so happens that I am working on a tool that ends up expanding hacker news urls. The problem I was solving was that of managing lots of replies to a successful post.

I allow you to replace the "ycombinator" in a hacker news item url with "gipety" so this current thread would point to:

https://news.gipety.com/item?id=41780255

You will then get a page that remembers the comments currently displayed. On subsequent refreshes you will see any new comments highlighted in green.

As I worked on it I decided to also add a slug as I got tired of not recognising what the urls I was copy pasting were referring to.

The above will for example end up generating this:

https://news.gipety.com/hn/41780255/k/67/s/show-hn-i-made-a-...

A bit of a tangent but the big problem a friend of mine faced when he got on the front page was managing all the replies. It quickly gets difficult to figure out which comments are new and should be replied to.

There is a solution I am working on at the moment.

If you replace ycombinator in a url like: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41816756

with gipety to get: https://news.gipety.com/item?id=41816756

you will get a page that remembers the comments currently displayed. On subsequent refreshes you will see any new comments highlighted in green.

It is not yet quite ready but if I get some positive feedback I might do a Show HN about it. (Would be ironic if too many people tried it and my site crashed ;)
