I was raised on the internet and spent so much time playing MUDs which then got me to want to create my own and learn to code. I played Abandoned Reality http://abandoned.org/ and it was such an amazing experience learning to write and play pretend. My wife and I met playing Abandoned Reality and turned out only lived 45 minutes away from each other.

The product is discounted compared to other devices in it's range and they did that by showing ads on the lock screen that is often unused by users. In the past Amazon's kindle ads have been quite tasteful and non-intrusive.

I came to say the same thing because things like "Click here for all the detials or to order" completely turned me off and made me think their mailing list got hacked and some new spam magnetic balance bracelet was being announced.

Though I have no idea how much has truly been donated to Rick Santorum, but I would bet that growing thermometer did help contribute to that. Perception is an incredibly strong tool that can be used to elicit reactions like donating "because everyone else seems to be". Sad that they're using such a tacky tactic.

I hope that some of the tech will be sold, opened or some how fall into other peoples hands. They did a lot of neat things with their prototypes and I think there is a chance that it can still help.

I don't really understand how it's creepy as hell. You volunteer information to it and it posts its. If you don't want people knowing when you are sick, broke a bone, or lost a loved one then I would think you don't post it to Facebook. This generation and even more surprisingly some out of generations of the past really want to share everything and this gives them that ability.

Does the education system in the US need to be changed? Absolutely 100% agree that it does. Do 18-19 year old people have the world figured out? Not by a long shot, but they sure think they do.

Just out of curiosity where are you going to move your domains? I own just over 30 domains all at GoDaddy and I'd move them over the massive amounts of cross selling and insanely cluttered UI.

Being a Real Estate agent in Texas I'll be the first to say most "solutions" for agents suck. We've completely destroyed our reputation as agents (if there was much of one anyway) on Craigslist by flooding the different areas. Many agents lie or use old listings or data to do bait and switch type ads.

I haven't used this solution, but I hope it helps to thin out some of the crap that gets posted to craigslist. Something that'd be awesome is to have the software ping the IDX to make sure the property being posted is still available. If it's not then maybe have an extra dialog to be SURE the person wants to post the property.

I think it was a smart move. In a few months no one will know why they know who Groupon is, but they'll absolute recognize the name because they were all pissed about how "insensitive" the commercials were.

I absolutely hope so. Publishers in large have taken complete advantage in a lot of areas. It's absolutely insane when community college students end up paying nearly the same amount for books as then do for 6-10 hours of courses. I cannot wait to see more competition in the publishing world.

I got insanely excited thinking that I could play Minecraft with the Kinect that is being delivered tomorrow.

Using the Kinect as a 3D camera for modeling in Minecraft is pretty sweet too though. It has been pretty amazing to see what the community comes up with on Minecraft servers and how amazingly creative people are with hardware like the Kinect.

This is amazingly interesting and inspiring for me. It's my intention to put out a simple web app every month or two this year. I've been piddling with programming languages for years and this year was my first year to put out anything public. Reading things like this excites me even though we come from completely different positions in life.

It's amazing and kind of freaky how often explorers still find new things on Earth. I cannot wait for more money to be spent on undersea exploration.

I don't think it's too late at all to get into the game. For a company like Google who experiments and usually learns from its mistakes. I think it has a chance to grab a decent chunk of the social networking market. If that doesn't work, they've also got a lot of cash sitting around to buy a few companies that do have the right idea.

I may have to play with that. My initial thinking was to leave it blank so that users could fill in the place they may be heading to. I tried to make it as easy as possible to type too with autocomplete of US cities and states. Also, the geolocation is pretty awesome on a smartphone. Is geo-ip very reliable on phones?

Edit: I'm making the geo-location button add zipcode as well to get a more accurate answer.

It's pretty awesome how many HTML5 resources have come out of the wood work. Yesterday, I decided to add Geolocation to my first mini web app and in just a little bit of surfing around I was able to learn enough to get it working. This one is presented very well and I'm sure I'll be referring back to it quite a few times.

I hope the onslaught of good e-book readers and tablets will have a huge effect on Goliaths of the textbook industry. The things they currently get away with are nuts. If the industry doesn't go in that direction on their own then schools should try and lead them that way.

Envy Labs has really been a model citizen in the Ruby community. With the release of Zombie for Rails, the podcasts/videos/blogposts, and now the cheat sheets. Kudos to them. I hope to see more and more dev shops following in their footsteps.

Good, maybe it'll bring some faster innovation to the automotive market.
