35 - lately i've been learning about arcade machines. how they work, how to fix them, etc. Ive fixed two so far back to perfect working order. My next project is a small repair on a EM(electro mechanical) pinball machine from the 70s, kinda of excited about it.

i live on the other side of the mountains, its usually nice an sunny over here for most of winter, but much colder. We also have much hotter summers and forest fires in the late summer, but hey, no grey gloom.

can you cite any sources of where control of large tracts of land were seized simply due to a road or trail crossing them? i would be interested to read the cases.

hunters originally only wanted to 'preserve' what they wanted to kill... otherwise we'd still have wolves, grizzlies, and other predators of all sizes, at their historic populations. likewise, certain hunters favorites wouldn't be dealing with population issues now. the ranchers have done the most harm though, they seem to want to kill everything, imo.

they cant even catch people breaking into hundreds of cars a year at popular trail heads... under staffing is a PITA.

this is my understanding of easements and closed roads too... a rancher bought some land near my home that has a trail crossing it to public lands that are encompassed by private land. he pulled a weapon on me and was investigated for brandishing and was set straight about his approach to dealing with people using public access, since it was there when he bought the land and it was well known.

ranchers can carry guns, but so can just about anyone else out west.

some folks i know just take the misleading no trespassing signs down. i've also seen where people attach them to trees surrounding good public hunting too, to prevent others from getting their trophies.

I live in the semi rural west and know many ranchers, family owns a few... i don't know of a single rancher who has been prevented from doing upkeep on roads across their own land that they allow easement to. only issues i know of are if you block a salmon stream, big no no in washington. also, people will vandalize just about anything, the assertion that they do it because its federal might be a bit off, IMO.

i had a run in with a rancher who pulled a gun on me for using public easement he was quickly visited by the local sheriff and had his ideals corrected.

the pay isn't particularly great in adult anymore, the parties aren't as fun either.

there used to be a couple agencies but they appear to have closed down over the years, just checked their websites.

this has been going on as long as paypal has been around. i never allow anyone to send more then a $1k to my paypal, everything larger than that gets check or wire. First time i got a $5k wire, they locked me out and held my monies for 90 days.... doesnt really help a growing business to have money locked. this was in 2002.

as a mac user, i always prefer to download the dmg directly. i only use the app store for OS updates, xcode and itunes updates.

seems like a hard nut to crack, considering there are constant changes to google algos that could screw with test results mid-test, and many other moving parts. I think what you are doing is great, have built similar tools in the past and always ran into issues due to so many moving parts, but im not a statistician.

Also what do you consider success? what if one title/meta combo gets a better rank but fewer clicks(ie; the bots like it but the users dont)? which one would you keep? I know many people like to brag about how many rankings they have but as an SEO for over a decade, i think traffic count is still king. in that id rather rank 11th for an extremely high volume term, then rank 2nd for a low volume one.

another thought... a blackhat site gets banned halfway through one of your tests and you move up based on no actions you took. thus you would get a false positive, no?

why so defensive about being privileged? it almost illustrates the concept for us... you claim to be privileged but also claim to not understand how it might make you different.

Though cannabis use can increase apathy, i don't think there is a lot of correlation, lots of kids step out of sports and other activities as they age, for many reasons. I am a daily user and have always had a burning desire to improve myself, my situation and the world around me. My list of hobbies and interests increases constantly and I haven't dropped very many, even the ones I suck at.

business is business, i wouldnt be mad/bitter at a co-worker for attempting to better themselves and leave a bad situation for one they thought to be better.

many people with lots of privileges to not see themselves as privileged, simply because they know nothing else.

i wasn't assuming they hadn't thought of it, i was stating they need to get better at it.

anybody that does a lot of machine/wood work knows a few friends with missing parts. whole fingers or partials.

i had a roommate for years, was a very skilled machinist... we called him "nine and a half" although he was really only missing about 2mm from his right index finger... state compensated him $10k for those 2mm's though.

they just need to get more creative with monetizing traffic.

yea i was more thinking of "earning" it and keeping it in the entity until its needed or wanted. that would allow you to defer taxes, yes? i was under the impression that it is not income until its paid to me as salary or dividends, that could be wrong though.

you can keep the money off shore and pay the taxes later though, no?

all the money wasn't made from malware, it just created a slush fund for other profitable(albeit questionable) businesses to be started.

I may be wrong and just speaking from experience, but Americans were really trapped in the .com/net/org for a long time. I think, because that's all we were exposed to... I didn't realize the depth and usage of CCTLDs until I moved to Europe, and saw them everywhere. When I gave my mom my first work email she added a .com after the .at at the end, and wondered why it never got to me.

technically its their property and theirs to do with as they please. though i disagree with the behavior.

the last time i was in a position that i oversaw hardware purchasing... you get better deals based on your overall spend. after we had spend 250k we got a new sales rep that had access to offer us lower pricing, same thing happened once we breached the $1m mark. new sales rep and pricing went lower. In fact, our first sales rep couldn't even make up a reasonable deal at $80k because he didn't have access to that level of discounting.

usually i always send everything back and tell them to do better.

my biggest gripe about dell pricing was no line items, just a bottomline price. so i couldnt tell which things i could save money on by sourcing them elsewhere(ie: larger drives, large amounts of memory)
