Tough to say. Only you truly know how 'hopeless' the individual may be. Ask yourself if you see ANY room for change - can the ship 'course correct' and still reach it's destination? OR - is the boat just too far off course.
Sounds partially that management wasn't doing their job. I think more intervention early on would have been best. Bluntly describing the issue, describe why it is a problem, and provide examples of expectations (or what Good/acceptable looks like in your opinion). You really can't fault someone for not hitting your expectation if you never clearly told them your expectation. Nt good to allow things to fester.
You wouldn't let a wound on your body fester until your only option is amputation, right? You'd go see the doctor and intervene early on, to stave off the amputation.
I'm surrounded by people who speak 'politically'. Rather than making their statements clear and explicit, they structure their words in ways that allow them to conceal the true meaning of what they said. Using verbs to misrepresent meaning makes it tough to have good communication and solid understanding between group members.
I am in your shoes OP, I feel it too. There has to be more to this thing. The thought of sitting in my office job for the next 30yrs makes me shake. Seriously. I don't know that I can do it, or that I want to do it.
Bottom line, you need money. How you earn the money is up to you...How much money you need to 'feel' comfortable is up to you.
If you can get a Masters degree (for free through employer or very cheap), do it. Bachelors degrees are like high school diplomas, everybody has 'em these days, and in 10-15yrs you'll want the Masters.

Honestly, i feel like your answer highlights the problem.
Compromising to the degree at which you can accept that you only get 1hr a day to yourself, is (to me) crazy. I am crazy too because I do the same thing.
It's hard to buy into the notion of working 8hrs and only getting 1hr for yourself, and then being ookay with that. It's a tough pill to swallow.
I know someone who was given a sulfur supplement/treatment in the ER. The doctors did not know if the low sulfer level is what caused her issue or not, but noted that it was odd.
There's loads of opportunity in helping farmers gleen new insights.

There are only so many 'issues' that a framework can solve and make things easier for you. Why not take advantage of a few basic features right? Why re-invent the wheel?
Perhaps this is the answer.
You can only rely on the framework to get you so far. These frameworks have become a crutch for developers.

If the new company is adding value to your credentials and also has room to grow, then maybe its work taking the offer.
But if it's the same job, with only a few more dollars in your pocket, I would evaluate the situation a little more. As they say 'the grass is always greener on the other side', you don't want to trade 1 set of issues for another.
You've only been around for 9 months, In my book you're still 'the new guy', so I personally don't see much room for negotiation.
Don't wait for shit to change where you are at though, it wont.

I have intentionally not applied to startups. I want to work for an organization with some staying power and not the 'flavor of the week'. With a wife & 2 kids, the risk of working somewhere that may go belly up in 3yrs becomes a huge factor when applying.
Same here. 9yr of front-end dev/design experience and no luck. Applied for over 120 jobs (between 2015 & Today), and not 1 single interview. Nothing.
I have the education (Bachelors in Digital Design & Masters in HCI)...I have the experience & diversity of project work..... yet, I can't seem to land an interview out of 120 applications. What gives?
Perhaps it's my resume, perhaps it's my skill set, or the places I am applying, or maybe the market it flooded with dudes like you & me...I'm not sure.
It is very frustrating. I don't know what to do about it. Maybe get another degree....?

I've had this done, it's concerning to say the least. Not being a new-tard, it's easy to see how this information can easily be used for nefarious purposes. Sometimes it seems to unavoidable due at some stores - I intend to try to prevent stores from scanning my id.

I'd update your resume and look around. Things could get better at your current job, however, if you are able to find something new, you should consider it..especially given your current issue.
You are right to feel annoyed by this. I would. I think anyone who put the time & effort into something would too. Hopefully your boss will figure it out one day.
