i think it's taking advantage of opengl. so all devices that support opengl get accelerated graphics. no need for per-device optimisations.

Stop trying to rely on the hive to vote good stories to the top. Either the democratic approach doesn't work or HN is getting gamed - either way the site is now effectively broken.

A decision has to be made from the top about what HN is all about. If it's startups and business then that's the only type of story allowed. Everything else gets dumped. I don't need another Reddit.

Mods would need strict guidelines about what qualifies and everything even slightly outside of these guidelines gets turfed.

svg. doc is similar to html (nodes in a tree structure) and it can be scripted(js). Animation scripted by hand or using an external lib like jq.

I think what confuses the issue for many people, myself included, is that other frameworks(Sencha) are trying to recreate a pixel perfect iOS/Andriod UI/experience in HTML.

Performance of these types frameworks on anything other than the beefiest mobile hardware is woeful.

I get your point though... 1 click deployment to multiple devices is a great feature.

Great work, however it's far short of the quality of Sencha Touch.

I have to wonder what the point of mimicking native UI is.

I've just started learning Obj-C and iPhone dev and getting ones head around basic UI functionality is at most 2-3 days worth of playing around. Is is really worth sacrificing native performance and consistency for such marginal gain?

An amazing product that I've been following for the last year has reached the 1.0 milestone.

I don't use GA so can't comment on feature parity. Importantly (for me) it has a powerful API, plugin architecture, easy integration, dead easy multi-site configuration.

I can't speak highly enough of this product.

I love web standards, I want them to win, but we're just at the start of this race and web standards have a loooong way to go.

Nobody's arguing that you should ditch Flash today, but the use cases for it will diminish over time.

Right now if you want cross browser 3D, video or animation then Flash is the way to go. But in 10 years time when all major browsers have consistent implementations of <video>, canvas, <audio>, webGL etc, etc then, sure use an alternative ;)

I've been developing with it for a couple of years and am quite happy with performance. Of course its going to be sluggish if you're targeting ie6 or something since the DOM the framework creates is HUGE.

Would be nice if they ditched support for ie6 which would probably help a lot with DOM bloat.

Seems like a reasonable idea. $19/month is very high for what the product does though. Any comparison to what your competitors are charging? Seems like more of a $5/month type idea.

So many people are scratching their heads trying to invent something new. Don't. Pick a market - the bigger the better and out-execute in some key area, be that design, usability, marketing etc.

It's not a bulletproof system. I tried looking at the sample page at work where we have a restrictive proxy filter and it was a no-go.

I'm no expert in this area, but aren't there a lot of graphics problems that are easily parallelized? Given that gaming is now mainstream I'd imagine the first set of killer apps to be game related.

I don't understand why the big G doesn't immediately ban all spam sites. They take about 0.1 seconds to identify by a human viewer.

Obviously not suggesting that G curates the whole web - but jeez purging the worst offenders would make life easier.

I think Matt has his work cut out for him. There is a tonne of content that Google is having trouble weeding spam from.

Try searching for 'anything review' and you'll get 99.99% spam. Made it very difficult for me to make an informed choice about buying a new monitor recently.
