Agents / models don't need to "learn" about this.

When on Windows, the models default to bash / coreutils conventions until they realize it doesn't work / not available unless explicitly instructed otherwise.

Even on Mac, they tend to default to bash instead of running things in zsh.

This is the wrong way to see it. If a technology gets cheaper, people will use more and more and more of it. If inference costs drop, you can throw way more reasoning tokens and a combination of many many agents to increase accuracy or creativity and such.

Do the moon viewers skew slightly older as a group because the earlier missions did not include space walking, and the walkers skew slightly younger?

Could also be impacted by fame / levels of personal income from being in one of the two distinct groups.

Not latencies, think data privacy / keeping queries and data from leaving sovereign borders. This way, if there is some local instance / everything is local than the datacenter and service are subject to local laws and regulations (and alternatively you're not subject to foriegn the laws and regulations (and agencies).

OpenGL is quite dated for VR/AR. In the Apple ecosystem they supported OpenGL 4.1 for quite some time before moving to Metal, which was announced 2 years before Vulkan.

If you spent the time developing an in house graphics API since open standards weren’t moving forward, why would you rewrite everything a second time just a few years later? Shouldn’t you expect to get a decade or two out of your existing API and only do the massive rewrite when the benefits become more substantial?

Vulkan & OpenGL applications can translate to Metal with MoltenGL and MoltenVK, respectively.

I don’t think it’s quite there yet, but the iOS Assistive Access mode is a step in the right direction. Eventually phones will have to have an “old people” mode, right? I especially worry how my grandparents will comply with 2FA requirements, passkeys, etc.

Zed AI 2 years ago

excited to use zed, but the AI chat panel does not work on a Mac host connected to a Linux guest.

I don’t use any PWA’s and I am not so sympathetic from claims of harm from removing/deprecating PWA’s without some data on the size and impact of this change.

Xbox Gamepass presumably would be the largest one/best example, is that how they ask people on iOS to stream games?

I had a Radeon VII I used on my MacPro5,1 that I would dual boot to Windows, which worked great with the LG Ultrafine 4K display (21.5", 4096x2304).

I upgraded to a LG 5K (same DPI, 27", 5120x2880) with the gc-titan-ridge thunderbolt card, but that was sort of a pain on an unsupported machine so I am moving to a M1 Mac mini + Thunderbolt PC. Hoping to drive it with a 3080, but I think it should be fine.

For any fast paced competitive games, you should be able to drive 60fps with the right hardware, but at the same time you will be held back by the lack of a greater than 60hz refresh rate.

I’ve been using RouterOS on a rb2011 since 2014, and it’s been a great device. Only wish I could have something like Pi Hole running on it, rather than a separate device.

Not sure if I would ever try to install something else and loose hardware acceleration.

I did this 3 times with a HP laptop from 2010-2011 and had the same experience, the graphics chip would last 3-4 more months.

My understanding was that the oven repair was/is mostly for when GPU’s had to move away from less based solder due to EU regulations but hadn’t gotten non-lead based solder right yet.

Also I wrapped most of the board in foil only exposing the GPU, and I put the board in hot and then killed heat after one or two minutes.

I thought it was great as a kid without any means to a new computer. Friends would give me their broken computers and I would fix them for myself.

The right repair I guess depends on what you can afford and what you’re willing to risk.

Apple allows you to completely block things with a whitelist model instead of a blacklist model.

These changes apply to the feed that shows up on the Siri watch face as well, and are a good way to force small local outlets onto my watch.

Enjoy.

QEMU now has ‘hvf’ (hypervisor.framework) available in master as an accelerator, I think it was a summer of code project.

Wish I could use it, but the current implementation calls the xgetbv instruction which is not available on my Westemere EP processors.

All MacOS/QEMU needs is PCIE passthrough and you could have an amazing setup with thunderbolt accessories.
