If a manufacturer is putting out virtually disposable electronics they should be on the hook for recycling them. Electronics are a horror show of toxic waste and that cost should be born by the source. 7" Android tablets go for as little as $30 on eBay.

Google invests significant effort into making iOS apps because they make more money from them than they do from Android.

This has nothing to do with exceptions for a pretty face. If you cede the high ground then you are worse than nothing in terms of helping your cause, as has been born out through history over and over.

There should be a law that manufacturers have to take back their cheap tablets and phones for recycling so they don't end up a toxic pile in a landfill.

This is a classic strawman that the EFF sets up to easily knock down. No one in their right mind thinks that the sole purpose of the NSA is terrorism. All American interests are to be looked after. The NSA unilaterily disarming would be a dream come true to many, mostly those who would like to see the West decline.

Apparently you missed it. That was done by the British and shared with the NSA. Maybe that narrative doesn't work for you but that is what happened.

It is beyond even that. Even if you get legislation making illegal for the NSA to spy outside the US you also have to pass a law saying they can't receive data from the GHCQ who were the ones who tapped Google and Yahoo in Europe and then shared the data with the US.

The elephant it the room that everyone is wants to ignore is that Google's data was intercepted by the British. It is quite interesting how that is conveniently overlooked to push a certain narrative.

Lost in all the America hate is the fact that the tapping of Google and Yahoo was done by the British. The whole west is complicit but only America gets the hate so it can continue easily.
