It's very clear from how ex-vegans - people how really tried to embrace veganism, but had to quit because of health issues - are harassed by current vegans, any criticism of the movement cannot be tolerated and ex-vegans are very dangerous as they expose that veganism is not for everyone.

You can easily check if a vegan is actually following a vegan diet without cheating, because after a few years they will develop the sunken eyes and hollow collarbones, definitely not looking healthy.

To backup the passwords a copy of ~/.password-store/ is enough, but to completely recover, a backup of the gpg keys is also required. What's your strategy for this? Do you just backup the entire ~/.gnupg/ directory?

And, if I want it to be an app I can use some HTML/JS wrapper and be done in a similar amount of time. I can have a new electron app up and running and on 3 platforms in under an hour. If I had more mobile experience I'm sure I could do the same there.

So now you have made a crap UI that is running on 3 platforms. It was quick and easy for you, but now every user has to suffer with a slow and bloated electron "app".

GUI development definitely has gone backwards at least a decade. Of course it can still be done right, but with so many low skill web developers everywhere, electron "apps" are what we get.

It's not feasible or reasonable depending on the world catering to your every need. If seeing or hearing a word will result in a mental breakdown, the solution is NOT to demand the entire world stop using that word, but for you to build mental resilience and being able to cope with that word, longterm this is the only way for you to not be miserable.

The only right solution is for those people to learn emotion regulation.

I have a example00@fastmail.com address, does this mean that I can also register example01@fastmail.com and example02@fastmail.com as an alias on my account, and it will seem like I have three accounts and recipients will never known about example00@fastmail.com if I send from one of the two aliases? Do I then also "own" example01@fastmail.com and example02@fastmail.com in the same way I "own" example00@fastmail.com while a customer?. If understood correctly, I could register an alias for mailing lists, and disable it if too much spam is received without ruining my main address.

I had no problem with switching to WireGuard, after learning about it, because this is so much better in both use and design than OpenVPN that I have used for 20 years. I had no problem with learning about systemd either, but that is just badly designed software to me.

I also hate GitLab for this, but I learned today that they are actually working on fixing this, by shifting some components to server side rendering. Awkward for me if GitLab suddenly will become the better choice.

Ugh, that's not good. Latest commit message and date will not display under <> Code without Javascript enabled, but if I click around in the repository and go back to <> Code or keep refreshing the page, they suddenly show up, still with Javascript disabled. Can anyone explain this?

Well, that's interesting information. I believe it when I see it, but it could be that my criticism of GitLab is no longer valid at some point in the future.

Better UI than GitHub

I think that GitHub has a much better UI than GitLab. GitLab is slow and bloated compared to GitHub. Requiring Javascript for browsing the code repository is just bad design.

I should probably have been more specific in my critique, as it sounds like I think GitLab has major problems. It's just regarding the web interface.

On every other Git repository manager, we can browse source code, view replies to both issues and merge requests without Javascript enabled. But not on GitLab. I don't expect anything advanced to work without Javascript, but these simple operations definitely should and I think it's very bad design to have this requirement. The result of this Javascript overuse is that GitLab is both slower and a bigger pain to use than the alternatives. Use Javascript in small amounts were it make sense for functionality, not just for showing text, pictures or other simple things.

There, my two cents. So, what I meant was that Microsoft should look at GitLab and NOT copy the web interface. GitHub has a nice web interface, with Javascript in acceptable amounts and where it make sense, even the language details bar works without.

Please don't ruin something that works fine by adding unnecessary crap. The only thing Microsoft has to do, is to take a good look at GitLab so they know what they absolutely NOT should do.

A big part of the books in NEL are out of print and no electronic versions are available elsewhere, and never will, so had it not been for Internet Archive, it would have been impossible to read these books and many of them had been lost forever.

If it's impossible to buy the book, why is NEL a problem for the publishers? Would they rather have that no one ever read the book again?
