HTML/CSS: Your HTML and CSS skills should be good.

Javascript/jQuery: You should also be proficient in JavaScript & jQuery.

MySQL/ActiveRecord: We use DataMapper in favor of ActiveRecord.

Github: We use Github, so you need to have a GitHub account and be comfortable with git.

Backbone: A lot of the work were doing is being done in Backbone, so that will be a big plus.

I've found that most of the time, the Google Traffic Estimate usually OVERESTIMATES how much traffic each keyword get. For example, I have the #2 google spot for a food keyword. I get about 1,500 visitors a month from Google for that keyword, but the traffic estimate tool estimates "74,000" searches for that keyword a month. So if 74,000 is really accurate, only 1,500 are clicking the second result

I'd say find a creative outlet, if that's hacking then so be it, but if it's writing or painting or just drawing for a couple of hours it can help to get things off your chest and clear your mind. That way when you're ready to work your mind won't be as distracted with these other problems.

You should make a poll about it

I'm not mail list expert but I have a couple decent sized lists, and I usually use them to promote products I'm selling, or cross-promote some of my other websites. I've tried putting affiliate links at the end of the emails but that hasn't been very successful so far.
