Great code is not required to make money and does not neccessarily help increase revenue. Customers cares more about issues being addressed now than how well it is designed underneath.
The question is more of is it required. I want to see weather there are many companies that have created hard to maintain code, but were able to become successful because of just producing a product that people wanted.

I hacked this together to see whether there is a group of people that prefer not to chat in anonymity. I tried out a few anonymous chat sites and most conversations involved male genitalia or some perverse comment. I hope people can start a better conversation when they reveal their name and picture.

I would suggest you read "Joel on Software". It can teach you how to better communicate with your technical founder and programmers and to understand the general technical challenges in undertaking a project.

If you don't turn off notifications, you will always be notified on the day of the birthday. The notify days before is an additional notification that you can receive. I will try to clarify this on the settings page. 3. The anniversary support sounds like a good idea. I'll try to add that to the next release.
In addition, I was thinking of adding notes to track birthday gifts to give a person. Do you think notes would be useful to you?

I put my startup on the service. One thing I have a problem with is that it exposes my personal email by default. I think you should make it private by default.
How often do you send updates to your fans?
I think facebook fan pages are useful in re-engaging users. I equate it to an email list. You can gather fans like you gather emails for your email list. When you push a message to your fans it is similar to pushing an email to your email lists. Both don't drive more users to your site unless the user chooses to share the email or the status message.

A lot of it has been completed, but it has been one of our internal tools that we use for our facebook pages. We are working on making it available for everyone. We think it will take 2 - 3 weeks to get it out.
There are services that can provide this data such as Teleatlas.
I think a website like this could help validate a lot of mass market consumer driven business ideas. However, the effectiveness of using mechanical turk would rest on who the mechanical turk users are. I don't know if you get the right type of feedback from turk users for b-to-b apps.
I would suggest you take an idea that exists that is not popular and test it out.
This maybe considered spam. You need the permission od the bloggers, journalist, and reporters to email them.
