the point is that you have to be together to unlock the photos. It's not that you're sharing photos locally, as seems to be your issue with the app.

I don't think it should be about skipping the (or one of) the hard parts. It should be about guidance through it and helping founders understand how to read the signals coming in. Some startups think they're doing it, but they're really not.
A service to push founders through it would be great.
Caltrain is already over capacity at peak times. I agree that there needs to be more accommodation near public transport, but I think they'd be better off building more public transport first!
yeah, what's the point of sailing solo around the world in 100 days when you can do the same trip by plane in just a couple of days!
complaints over the app are a muted form of natural selection.
that's not true. we uninstall and don't use the app. Remember Facebook •Camera? That has exited the gene pool.
Also, did ed209 honestly claim artists churn out iterations of what came before, just like facebook churning out cloneware?
Yes. Just search for art movements, whether from 14th century Renaissance to 1950's pop art. Tell me artists were not "influenced" by other art being produced at the time.
I think there are probably more efficient ways you can get to making an interesting piece of software. Building on the work of others, maybe?
I'm wondering the same. Coming from the UK, home delivery for groceries is old news. Is it the geographical size of the US that's making this a harder problem over here (US)?
Did you know there are over 150 varieties of Finches? Each slightly different, maybe color difference or a larger beak or bigger wingspan. They came about by iterating on the Finches that came before.
In fact, that's how most advancements come about in nature, poetry, art, and yes, even technology. We take what came before an iterate on it.
I'm trying to think of a giant leap that came out of nowhere, but I can't.
Photos and videos are important to me. Really important. It's how I see my family 1000's of miles away or my daughter 5 miles away when I'm at work.
And just like in nature, either this iteration will thrive or die out eventually.
I believe Apple is sending out the wrong signal about driving+other activities at the same time.
Sure, people have already picked up bad habits, but that makes it ok to encourage that behavior if they are going to do it anyway?
Maybe Apple does make certain activities less dangerous, but it's still making access to distractions easier and I think that's a bad thing.
In 2011, 3,331 people were killed in crashes involving a distracted driver. 3,267 in 2010. [1]
When you say "This reduces distraction." you mean compared to holding the phone and doing those actions, right?
The way I would account for human behavior is to intelligently disable certain functionality as the car is moving. Compared to someone else's life, how important is that text message? Even dictating a text message takes some cognitive load.
Let's not mix the word "safer" and "distracted driving".

sounds great. Any chance of a quick how-to? I'm a male and I've never negotiated a salary either.
jig also springs to mind and this answer on Quora about why it didn't take off is pretty good

When bitcoins are lost, are they lost forever? So the total pool of bitcoins will be 21m - your 160 and his 7000?
Open Sans has plenty of weights to choose from, I don't think you should write off the whole font! http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Open+Sans
These "phones" make such huge difference to my life that I can't imagine not discussing them.
I just moved to san francisco from UK. I have never been here before. Using my phone I can video call my family, who are missing my daughter, from a supermarket. I can discover places to shop, eat and have fun at the touch of a button. I can update my friends back home with how I'm getting on.
These phones impact at least 50% of my life, so of course I'm going to discuss them - at length.
you also have to consider that rushing through the trial stages can cause mistakes which leads to the treatment looking like it's ineffective. When this happens, it loses funding any may not then be developed further.
This is what it seems like to our generation (I'm guessing you're 25+). By the time current 12 year olds are old enough to buy art, buying it online will seem totally normal.
~2006 I tried to create an online art marketplace (this was a direct-from-artist marketplace from $50 to $50,000) and one of the main problems was that buying online made the work feel a bit cheaper. That's a stigma that will die off.
All you need to sell work remotely is trusting the brand you're buying through (Amazon) and being familiar with the artist you're buying.
I think you might be confusing it with something else. It's pretty much in every app http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/actionbar.html
How do you find out which are the great programmers? I'll look up John Resig, thanks.
That's partly why I release an open source plugin for jQuery, hoping others might pick it up and suggest improvements.
I agree completely, other than calling them rare exceptions. You can't quantify the rarity of these opportunities until you know how big the gap is between your current knowledge and what you'd learn.
The bigger the gap, the less money you are likely to make but the more you'll learn. If you get paid nothing, you're basically there to learn (to the value at least the salary you would receive).
That depends on how you class "for free". Most people think free = not being paid money.
I'm actually looking into working for the whole of July for no monetary compensation. But in return, I expect to learn something from whoever I work with/for.
Most of the time money is good. You can exchange that for many things in life. But sometimes, knowledge is better to have as you can exchange that for (even more) money.
And from an employer point of view, you should not be judged by the size of your pay cheque, but by how much value you actually add to a company.
You should watch Eric's intro about himself (about a minute in) [1] before filtering advice and opinion based on someone's success.
Hi, OP here. Thanks!
This method is actually pretty quick but it is very throw away. It doesn't replace more dynamic prototypes you might make at other stages. This is designed more for making something real that you might have only previously played out in your head.
I usually do this right along side Photoshop (copy paste).
This is meant more as a tool for me to show people directly what their site would look like.
For example, without asking you to sign up, I could build a link where all you do is click to try http://qiip.me out
But for regular visitors to the site, you just click on the icons on the home page which does the same thing.
Good info coming from https://twitter.com/jguynn on this press conference.
You need to do this http://leanstartupmachine.com/
I did one in London and they made me get out on the street, stop people and talk to them.
Uncomfortable? yes. Eye opening? yes.
In 3 days we made an mvp, got out and sold product. Literally the MVP was some html page on some vps. Sales were meeting people in person for cash!
This is also a problem with movies. On my Apple TV it seems to stream movies, but if I want to watch the same movie on my iPad I have to have the correct amount of space left to download it first.
This is one thing I like about Android/Google+. All the photos I take are uploaded automatically and I can access them on any of my other Android devices.
so a legal drug like alcohol is actually causing havoc in society, as you so vehemently point out... and you are advocation MORE drugs be made legal?
Really look forward to a night out when a bunch of people are buying heroin in one bar, cocaine in a another and ecstasy at the club - sounds awesome!
I am from Europe, yes I've been to those games. No doubt alcohol is a problem. Comparing pot to alcohol is just dumb, they have complete opposite physiological effects. I've seen what long term pot smoking does to normal people, with normal jobs and normal lives - it's not harmless.
I have not seen any studies on the health benefits of pot or cocaine as part of a regular lifestyle - can you enlighten me? I've seen reports of pot and ms or cocaine used by doctors for procedures, but I never heard of them being recommended for regular consumption as a way to improve health.
And, again, point out the draw backs of some drugs (alcohol) does not mitigate the problems associated with other drugs (pot).
and my point is that smoking should not be legal, carrying weapons should not be legal, pot should not be legal.
Drinking is difficult because there are reported health benefits as well and most of the world does not drink to excess.
You may think that doing those things in your own home, with your own body is nobody's business but yours. That, however, is naive. Let's say you overdose on cocaine or you get lung cancer from smoking, that is not a burden only you will carry, that is a burden on society.
Money spent on your treatment could be better spent elsewhere. This isn't about personal freedoms, it's about being a responsible member of society and unfortunately talking about it on the personal scale is totally different to talking about it on a national scale.
