That would be my gut - he felt like they weren't getting the data they needed. If he's doing layoffs/firing that quickly, he's most certainly doing it to make a point to the rest of the company. That's the only reason you would do something like that that fast. Not endorsing it or weighing either way. Just stating the facts.

We (Bitnami) have been using Zesty for a couple of weeks and are really happy so far. The food has always arrived on time, they've been great at helping us curate the list of restaurants they rotate through for us and the food is healthy and plentiful.

I think the $7-$8 price point is ideal. It is affordable enough for most companies to be able to justify it. Over $10/meal starts seeming a little extravagant to me.

Absolutely agree. As a woman in tech, these types of discussions make me sick to my stomach. What an absolute waste of time and energy (except for those using it for political gain, I suppose, but they rarely achieve that through these types of shenanigans.)

Yes, they have a special arrangement with Microsoft. That is why you will see that it is more expensive to run Windows-based instances on AWS than it is to run the free Linux OSs (Amazon Linux and Ubuntu, for example.) You can put together and publish your own AMIs for Amazon based on Windows, but users can't download and use them (as with all AMIs) - they just deploy them to Amazon and then they would be paying the additional hourly fees.

According to TechCrunch, they are on track to do $5 MM in EBITDA, so they have about $15 MM in annual operating costs (before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization). This means that Dice paid about 4x operating profits.
