The findings are based on older models and assuming recent models behave similarly, what kind of prompt style one should use then to improve the outcome to avoid the increase in variance especially when you ask a model to solve really complex problems?

Another one of these fascinating super absorbent materials is SAP (Superabsorbent polymer).
It is heavily used in diapers, tissues, water retention for plants, etc. SAP can absorb liquid up to 30-60 times its own volume.
Agree housing is expense no matter where you look US, Europe, Australia and so many more. You do mention “a bit” annd I’d argue the material, design and housing cost itself to build is by now a far smaller portion for most urban/suburban places where the majority of people are. IMO land and regulations/policies is really where majority of prices have driven up for housing price.

Many mid size cities along rivers like Donau/Isar/Inn are worth visiting like Regensburg (old historic city)/Passau/Rosenheim/Landshut/Augsburg.
Some of the lakes in southern part of Bavaria like Chiemsee (Fraueninsel)/Starnberg/Tegernsee have some charm.
I personally think Salzburg and Garmisch-Partenkirchen are special as the sit right at the foot of the alps.
By far most organization do not care about you as an individual.
May it be work, government on various levels, special interest groups, you name it. You are just a single member and in the big picture they focus on their agenda first and foremost. Sometimes I have the impression the larger the organization the worst and unfair that is. With age I somehow keep shifting my interest and company more and more closer to family and friends, meaning the smaller the circle the better I feel about it.
I feel 2001 was far more severe compared to now.
I know since the tech layoffs accelerated in Oct/Nov 2022 some people have a hard time finding new jobs or at the same salary. Particular for newer graduates or people with limited years of experience it is not easy.
But here in the Silicon Valley overall it does not yet really felt that much different. Some companies are still hiring, there are opportunities, roads here have rush hour and restaurants are still see guests coming in.
In 2002/2003 when you drove down N. First Str. in San Jose those buildings were mostly empty. It was scary. Hard to come by any job opportunity and highway 101 had no congestion. Many people moved out of CA at that time and it took years to recover.
To me 2008 with the real estate bubble felt less of an impact as tech was not hit so hard.
Now to me technology companies overall are already in a recession, but in the last few months layoffs, shutdowns have calmed down. Despite the swing back to higher interest rate many businesses are still doing ok, but should the overall economy slow down further in 2024 we might see also more cut downs, more reduction in work force and a weakening housing market might further deteriorate the situation.
I don’t think we are out of the woods yet and maybe a good time to ask in 6-9 months again if www bubble in 2001 was worse

It always irks me when I see these low cost electrolytic capacitors. With operation hours they dry out loose capacitance and typically are the first components to make the bulb worthless.
There are long life, high temp electrolytic cap, but from the picture I can tell these ain't the one and due to competition and fierce price competition won't allow to add in several more cents to make the bulbs last additional 50k/100K/ or more hours. Maybe also not good for reoccurring business. What a waste.

Not answering the original question, but as often seen in these discussions a lot of the debate is revolving around QoL & cost of living comparison.
QoL is hard to measure and subjective to individuals desires/needs/etc.

As someone who graduated in Germany long time ago, lived and worked in the last 24 years here in the USA/Silicon Valley and visited this summer Europe for 2 months it also made me realize how much my perspective has changed to the high QoL in Europe. I am torn if I should go back or not. For me easy it is an easy move to make, but a tough choice to decide on.

All major car OEM are challenged with a cohesive software development and integration. There are so many different units of ECU/ICI/ADAS/TCU/ABS/etc (and list goes on) and mostly all of them are interconnected, partial OTA, etc. Tesla having started software first and with their central ECU approach has a leading edge.
Mercedes with their MB.os, VW with their Cariad, Toyota with their Arene and each major automotive OWM is coming up with their own overarching OS platform shifting to software and mobility first.
Underneath is often a safety certifiable OS like QNX, combined with AutoSAR or Linux for less safety critical OS. So generally as far as I can tell most car OEM do not start from scratch and they have to work with the leading silicon supplier as well on all the OS driver support. You also have to consider full functional safety compliance across the globe, many teams/languages/etc. It truly is not that easy to orchestrate that all.
On top like someone commented here, many OEM are very hierarchical structured and creating software development across these different functional units/devisions is a challenge for most automotive companies are really struggling with.
Michael, thank you for sharing your story and experience for TinyPlot from inception starting to scale. As a hardware engineer myself and having been in your shoes, founded 10 years ago a startup and launched the product I know what it takes and how hard it is to reach the point you got to, kudos.
This blog mentions that you consider manufacturing in China and drop ship the product. In all likelihood by now you might get PCB/PCBA and/or other parts of it from China, not sure. Outsourcing the whole chain flow is another dimension.
Some post here mentioned it already, but the support/expense you will need to provide that is going to be a longer list. Ongoing quality handling remotely, component shortage, part replacements you did not know about, yield, shipping issue, etc it can be real distractions. That is one of the reasons you need some build/ship volume, probably minimum over several hundred units a month to make the whole flow work efficiently.
One more thought. I am not sure how you will avoid an actual office for a hardware company assuming you want to continue to grow with product improvements, debug and next generation development.
My post is just to give you heads up shifting from in-house build with tight control to outsourcing might not solve all your problems. At least that was my experience and I for one definitely did that outsourcing too early.
Generally true, but with the continuous saga of component shortage and that market dynamic has shifted over time from a broad shortage to specific segments particular newer, high end ICs type you can't reliably get your hands-on having inventory and liability on the books is still a better way to go for now.
My current large corp employer is making hardware products and I can not tell you how much more even in 2023 time and effort is spent by teams procuring material to keep production up, including pushing hard on our suppliers.

One area I found ChatGPT helpful is explaining to my teenage daughter some topics from school she had a harder time understanding. Example was her question on the difference between impact vs momentum. Now I could explain it in my words, but the way ChatGPT explains clear and concise is hard to beat. Especially if you have follow on questions, like on show me in mathematical formula how it is done. My feel is eduction will see a heavy impact.
I used it occasionally for other things like different coding question or framework, etc but the verdict for me is still will use the tool longer term.

Read Ray Dalio’s just recently release 576 page book “ Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order: Why Nations Succeed and Fail” and you will get a far deeper understanding how he comes to that conclusion. I personally thought it is an incredible well researched book with lots of analysis including historical perspectives. Worth the read to understand the big cycles.
