How are you able to see a datasets lineage across storage types. For example how are you able to see that an s3 buckets files are the ancestor of some table in Postgres?

Yes but I actually didn’t end up building any of the tile logic in python. I used PostGIS and Postgres. Each query is like 25 lines and supports polys and lines out the box.

I actually did this at work! Set up a fast api with a tile server endpoint and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

Pulumi doesn’t have a framework for general CICD but from my experience it shifts the complexity out of the bash/yaml scripts and allows me to express it in python and the I can run unit tests and easily run it locally. Our use case is rather simple though, just a fast api backend and front on ECS.

I’ve been using Pulumi automation in our CI and it’s been really nice. There’s definitely a learning curve with the asynchronous Outputs but it’s really nice for building docker containers and separating pieces of my infra that may have different deployment needs.

Do you actually enjoy the process of writing online?

Because for me I’ve realized there’s a difference between enjoying actually doing a hobby versus just fantasizing about what it would be like to be good at it.

Maybe that’s not what you’re experiencing, but I’ve tried to get into hobbies and have run into the feeling you describe. Eventually I would drop the hobby because I just didn’t enjoy doing it.

Has anyone figured out how to do “visual” chunking for rag? I’m curious how this would be used in place of an OCR service.

One thing for me that works really well is Pomodoro timer, I do 15 minutes work 5 minutes rest. During work sessions I put my phone in the other room so it’s not distracting me with notifications. After a few flow cycles I just get zoned in and the flow state hits.

i sometimes get really bad bouts of chronic bronchitis for 3 weeks on end. There’s no silver bullet but I really like Vic’s vapor rub, a humidifier, and ricola cough drops. To sleep, I usually stack 2/3 pillows so my nose drains properly. When I wake up in the middle of the night hacking, I sit in the shower with a ton of steam.

I used this in my software testing class. It was really cool! Although interfacing with LLVM was not very fun, I feel like I could’ve spent a lot more time learning the innards of this tool instead of fighting with llvm and C++.

If you have the time maybe look towards a community college and take a modern mechanics class! I took one in undergrad and it gives you insight into special relativity and basic quantum. Though I don’t remember a lot of it, it was really exciting to be able to practice the math and be able to ask the professor my questions.

I feel like with these topics you need to dive into the details to gain a strong understanding but then you only realize how much there is to learn.
