So many ultrabooks and even some high-end productivity laptops cap out at 32GB of soldered RAM, while portable gaming devices are packing 64GB of upgradeable RAM. I feel like that dam is going to break soon.

Ubuntu and Pop!_OS upgrades fried my systems in the past, making me think Linux as a desktop OS wasn't worth so much wasted energy.

I am using NGINX Unit with Django in a bunch of production workloads, with high traffic. Works really well!

The most time spent was building from source in Docker for ARM support and going down a rabbit hole of targeting the minor Python version that apt was installing on some Debians, w/o a virtual env, instead of the one it defaulted to.

Apparently if you decide to leave Denmark after 7 years as a tax resident, you may need to pay an exit tax, 'fraflytterskat' in Danish. I was surprised to hear about this. Have you heard of an exit tax, and is it something to also keep in mind for relocation?

Exit taxation applies for individuals who have been considered as resident and tax treaty resident in Denmark, who are leaving Denmark with assets, including but not limited to shares, options, bonds, certain pension plans, certain property investments, etc.

The rules apply to both Danish and foreign assets, shares, investment funds, financial contracts, deposit accounts, etc.

If comprised by the exit tax rules, the assets, etc. comprised will be considered as realised on the date of departure, and the individual will be liable to pay the Danish tax due on this unrealised gain.

I too have seen this as a past entrepreneur in Canada. A lot of accountants are in on misrepresenting SR&ED tax credit applications and will attempt to find the "research" in regular IT work. They will even do the technical writing and filing work for free, while taking a commission of the take when the tax credits roll in (free money). There is a whole segment of startups propped up by SR&ED. I've seen many doing innovative work with a sound business plan, using that money to get to profitability, and it's great they were able to get funding, but a lot of others milked the system fraudulently, using SR&ED consultants to continue to exist when they should have failed.

Linux used to break down all the time when I used Ubuntu variants and Gnome. Either Nvidia drivers, distro upgrades, gnome configs going awry. Switching to KDE Plasma Desktop & openSUSE Tumbleweed, reliability has been 99.9999% SLA! There are immutable Linux distros too. Very reliable esp. with fs snapshots/rollback and rolling updates.

For each cheesy training video, playwright opens the page, runs a timer, clicks an element to load the quiz page, copies the question and possible answers, and sends them to the GPT-4 API for the best possible solution, clicks on the element that was answered as the most likely solution, and repeats. Since these video/quizzes are recurring and terrible, it was worth automating

For compliance, I have been using it to complete cheesy "security training" videos and quizzes that we are forced to watch in the organization for insurance purposes. The videos are so bad, the training is ineffective anyways. We used to load them all on mute at the same time every quarter, click through as fast as possible to get them out of sight, which is considered a metric for how valuable the videos are (how much we need to improve). ChatGPT usually gets it right! Hooked up to Playwrite.

This has been my experience as well: no problems screensharing except w/ Zoom native client due to their distro whitelist preventing screensharing under Wayland. A little irksome. Just let us try! Browser mode until then.
