For what it's worth - I'm not sure what the criteria is (I assume we're "medium sized / not a big upsell opportunity"?) - our GCP rep quickly pushed us to switching to using a GCP reseller. They took over our billing so that we can pay via ACH, and provide both free first-line support/escalation and paid engagements for bigger projects; they don't charge a premium on top, apparently Google pays them for supporting us. Hasn't made much of a difference in how we operate, but at least we have a direct-ish line for issues when they come up.

New guidance from Anthropic indicates that SPVs and indirect sales of Anthropic stock "...that has not been approved by our Board of Directors is void and will not be recognized on our books and records". Specific private markets (Forge, Hiive, etc) are named directly.

For what it’s worth - we had to audit/list all licenses for OSS components & dependencies on at least 3 separate occasions during fundraising diligence processes. I would guess nobody read it too closely but GPL code would definitely have stuck out. I imagine bigger companies have this process pretty well structured.

Yep, exactly - by "that first set" I meant the 00-1A group, could have been clearer. Whatever the smallest rollout bucket is, that group is guaranteed to have every single feature.

This was quite a while ago, but I think the actual case we noticed this with was several features released to 50% of the userbase - so every single user either had all or none at once (unintentionally)

I've seen a similar mistake in a rushed "feature flagging"/phased rollout system.

User IDs were random UUIDs. Let's say we want to release a feature to ~33% of users; we take the first 2 characters of the UUID, giving us 256 possible buckets, then say that everyone in the first 1/3 of that range gets the feature. So, 00XXX...-55XXX... IDs get it, and 56-FF do not. This works fine.

However, if we then release another feature to 10% of users - everyone from 00-1A gets it, 1B-FF do not. That first set now has both features, and 56-FF have none. It turns out you can't draw meaningful conclusions when some users get every new feature and some get none at all.

I'm pretty agnostic on cold emails as a strategy, but this article doesn't mention the specific sourcing method used here which I found a bit distasteful (but common) — scraping the HN "Who's hiring" thread:

Hi there from Detroit. I'm a relatively recent transplant but my partner has been here for quite a while. Here's what I've learned from her:

- Getting involved in local politics. There are many opportunities to attend public meetings and many accessible public programs that most folks don't know about — even something as simple as requesting a speed bump to be installed on a neighborhood street with speeding problems or requesting a pickup of illegally dumped trash can make a real difference.

- Supporting local businesses, co-ops, urban farms, and folks building the future you'd like to see. Volunteering at local community organizations is a wonderful way to meet folks on the ground doing real and necessary work.

- Creating friendly dialogues with your neighbors and those around you. There's occasional violent crime around us, but the neighborhood watches out for one another. Our neighbors selflessly help each other in ways I could never imagine in SF or NYC.

- Investing in the community when and how you can. My partner bought and renovated an abandoned house in a less desirable neighborhood and has created a great small community of optimistic tenants and friends. There is a lot of unused and available land in the neighborhood and we're actively working on ways to reimagine it — for farming plots, new housing, community spaces and more.

None of these are as hard as they sound, and the impact from small actions is huge compared to wealthier areas.

We took a bet on Linear fairly early on (moved over last August!) and have been consistently impressed. I've used many different tools in the past (Pivotal Tracker, Jira, Trello, Asana, Github...) and Linear has by far the most polished, productive interface of the bunch.

We have fairly strong opinions about our workflow (using points, planning sprints, etc) and have found that even in the cases where Linear isn't as opinionated as we are, or doesn't have granular tools/configuration to manage things, we can get most of the benefits we need by using tags and other features appropriately. I was a die-hard Pivotal Tracker user before this, and it's very hard to imagine going back now.

Super impressive product and team, highly recommended!
