In my 60's now, in my late 20's due to a layoff I ended up taking a year long "Sabbatical".

It wasn't planned and I didn't have the finances setup but I made it work and spent my time doing volunteer work, some personal spiritual exploration and low cost travel.

Granted, single, no one needing me for anything, so your mileage may vary.

For me, best decision ever. I really enjoyed getting to point of not knowing what day it was.

I was interviewed by the Union Trib in the late 80's about home affordability.

I was seeing the same with my Pixel Buds. I've started to give them a little extra nudge when I put them back in the case and that has seemed to eliminated the issue for me.

If you're "supposed to know", I would assume enough use to not need to brush up. Brushing up implies not used enough to keep in the mental model.

It only contacts my tongue and then my lips.

It took a couple of nights finding the correct position, how far in to stick my tongue, from there it's been no issue.

Less complicated than any of the mouth pieces.

I'm a pretty big drooler when getting dental work, and I'm ok wearing this device.

Have done a couple of sleep studies, no apnea, but snored terribly. (Have snored my whole life)

During the studies they had me try a CPAP, none chance I would ever be able to wear one. I have a strong gag reflex.

I've worn a number of mouth guards, all fitted by my dentist. I wore them for about 25 years. Absolutely noticed the change in my bite, but was will to put up with it to allow my wife to sleep at night.

I've now changed out to device that holds my tongue. Much less stress on my jaw and works just as well as any of the mouth guards.

I'll be hiring this year as well. I'm in the manufacturing domain.

As said a few times below, I'm looking for real work experience. Specifically in the domain.

I also agree, there is going to be a lot more really boring work, mixed in with some new and interesting. Pretty much the job description for most of the IT world.

I received an airplane ticket in California back in early 90's.

It was the case then, I don't know now, that if there were multiple officers involved in the citation that they both had to show up in court, or the ticket was dismissed.

I had heard through a family member that the pilots never showed in court. So I did and it was quickly dismissed.

In early 2000 within a few months the traffic on 680 south over the Sunol Grade(main road to the SV from points NE) went from dead stopped at 4:30am, to no traffic at all at 7:30am. It was breathtaking.

I managed to hole up in a consulting gig in manufacturing. We had our rates shaved 20% and felt lucky. Everyone who had left for greener pastures called up looking for work over the next year. I mean everyone. It was sad.

As described above, there were no jobs to had.

I recall a new building put up around the 580/680 interchange. I used it as my canary, when it was occupied I would call the recovery happening. It was empty from 2000-2003.

2008 was bad for other sectors, tech had issues, but nothing like 2000.

What's going on now isn't the same. There are specific pullbacks. Twitter is about the Elon buyout. In other places there is money. And in my manufacturing universe I'm having trouble finding people.

Family weekend for my youngest son's college baseball team.

A scrimmage each day. A big BBQ dinner tonight. Some alumni activities as well.

My Dad joined my wife and I, so we get some time with him as well.

Did it myself. Laid off with a large group.

Attempted a start up.

Then someone who wasn't laid off called with an interesting new project, so I went back. Then I was laid off again, along with the person who had called me back.

Not going back for a third time...

Had this happen, freeway speed, car stopped no lights.

I managed to get on the brakes but slammed into the vehicle still.

(Was in my 20's, so still youthful reaction times, drove lot, did SCCA events so at least an avg driver)
