I did something similar (though I used a slightly different method to intercept traffic) to make the US version of the Costco app better: www.97cost.co
I'm only surfacing two api requests that Costco's app is using, but even with a server as a middle man between the browser and Costo's backend this is way faster than the app.
What backend are all these slop apps using for the paid tiers?

I am a little confused because I got a 401 when I tried to pull an image from there. Do I need a login or something? For a free image it sure doesn't feel that way.
I think there are crawlers that do that. Somehow I accidentally had a commit with an openai key in it, and when I published an open source repo with that commit within ~20 seconds I got an email from openai someone had retired my exposed key.
Every job I've had with Gusto has managed to screw up payroll at some point. The support from Gusto is very poor, even a supervisor that's offshore when you call em won't be able to understand your basic questions.
Honestly that's a great case for vibe coding, getting a splash page for a project that's not a website.

What were you doing to get traffic from the open Internet to your webserver at home? I always felt that was a risky proposition, but I might just be stupid.
I heard on npr, can't remember which radio show, that customers these days do a really poor job of punishing poor companies. They cited the statistic that the most pissed off customer is only 2% less likely to use a service/product than the most loyal customer.
Dude you do not understand how bad those "APIs" are for booking flights. Customers of Travelport often have screen reading software that reads/writes to a green screen. There's also tele-type, but like most of the GDS providers use old IBM TPF mainframes.
I spent the first two years of my career in the space, we joked anything invented post Michael Jackson's song Thriller wasn't present.
There have been previous articles posted with people's direct experience with the hiring process at Canonical. I don't think this is a good candidate for a case study.

What are the consequences of this? I think they can seize the domain for free if I'm misrepresenting the site as part of github, but lets assume I use no branding, etc what's the worst that can happen?

How did you figure out that was available? Searching just for, "github" on domain searches didn't pop that up but you were correct. I scooped that up because I could :)
I found fly.io to be very generous and pretty easy to get started with. There's also free tiers from AWS, GCS, or maybe even Vercel depending on your needs. So get free hosting, build things out, they pay for a domain which seems to be the only thing you can't cheat or steal :)

I realize this is out of scope for your site, but where do you recommend going to purchase domains that are expiring? It seems a bit different process from buying a brand new domain.

How did you get around youtube blocking cloud IP ranges? Are you suing residential proxies?
I literally had a guy who was giving off really hostile vibes in the interview talk about shouting at someone when he didn't agree on the solution. Given this was a workplace where people argued a technical approach with cussing and yelling I didn't need more of that.
I agree you'd think this is the dumbest question, and most people will make up something minor, but it does weed people out.
I wanna say it was a little different? Super idiot-proofed for a windows user. Download a .exe from the ubuntu website, might've downloaded something after installation I don't remember, then click a few buttons and wait.
Circa ~2013-2014 i don't remember ubuntu had a windows installer you'd downloand then reboot after installation, no usb drive needed. It's how my gf at the time, no wife, got her torrenting partition on her pc. Idk what happened but that's not a thing anymore :'(
I'd say given the startup's shutdown being offered a signing bonus and a job at another company was the best outcome for the employees.
