It does only allow filtering by one language at a time, but you can build your hotbar of the stations you like that you find across any filters.

The scan works on the displayed results. If you change the filter, it starts with the new list -- but all the results are saved regardless.

Thanks for the feedback and I'm sorry that happened. Because the data comes from a public GitHub list of channels, the app has no way to know what will be geoblocked for you (or not) or actually online at the moment (or not) until you try to tune it -- very much like an old analog TV.

But... TV Explorer does keep track of what's tunable (with status lights down the left column) and also lets you scan in the background to find the ones that are live for you right now.

The short version is that it uses my own engine, called Watson. I used to work for a small game studio inside a big company and my specialty was tooling. I had built my own before I started there and when they shutdown, it evolved into Watson[0].

It's lightweight because it's a static site with no server, it has no spying code or SDKs, and it puts the broadcasters HLS stream URL directly into a <video> element in your browser with minimal intervention.

For a no hacks alternative, I built TV Explorer. It puts the channel's published HLS stream into your browser with no interim steps. Uses the public GitHub list of more than 10,000 free channels.

Wrong. Many Play Store apps are registered under corporations and give out their contact info. I feel you don't want to make the effort or pay the expense to register one, yet you want the benefits they bring.

Indeed it is, and that's why the Play Store doesn't allow it.

When you register a corporation, it is a legal person (in the US). That person is the person selling the goods or services and is legally responsible. That's different from the concept of which human people own a company, which can be obfuscated through many means.

No, and you shouldn't try. Its disingenuous and dishonest to try and sell something without identifying yourself. If the customer has a problem, should they... just give up? If you did something illegal should they... overlook it?

The usual way a business handles this is to register as a corporation, and that's what gives out its address and contact info, not your home. A registered business can have an address elsewhere, at least in the US.

There are many ways to collect money in an app without putting that app in the Play Store. Perhaps a web app without outside payment and an auth system would serve you better.

Because Indonesia has a massive population, far more people than the US and much more densly populated. It's internet users are vastly mobile as opposed to desktop or LAN connections. The US geographic landscape and computer use landscape are entirely different.

But the long tail isn't served. The reality of your statement turns out to be that, if there aren't enough customers to justify an expensive tower or wire, no service will be provided at all.

It occurred to me after reading the original story that if space based internet gets fast enough, we'll stop using any other kind for most purposes. That means, as a platform, SpaceX could carry a significant amount of the entire world's internet traffic. No wonder Elon is interested.
