What are the advantages of this compared with ENS (Ethereum Name Service) and Unstoppable Domains?

They've deeply weakened .net as it was always second fiddle - now there are more specific/relevant second fiddles to choose from.

Good .com's are worth much, much more now (e.g. Voice.com sold for $30 million USD recently).

I think some of the shady behavior from the new extension registries (they seem to hold back every decent name as a "premium") really hurt their adoption.

Maybe in the past things were different (although many studies into this tend to have ulterior motives), but I would say that Veganism has gone from an obscure lifestyle/diet to the acceptable mainstream very rapidly - e.g. U.S's population has gone from 1% vegan to around 6% in just the last couple of years (https://www.forbes.com/sites/janetforgrieve/2018/11/02/pictu...).

Even KFC are creating a vegan option.. sometimes change happens quick. I see it becoming more and more normalised.

Reduce your meat consumption as much as you can. Don't go all the way vegan

Why not go vegan/vegetarian? Most people who do handle it perfectly fine, unless there's another reason for suggesting this?

Not so much about something already existing, but knowing how next-to-impossible it'll be to compete against the Googles/Microsofts of the world once the idea starts to take up steam/get noticed.

Not from the U.S (assuming you are) and don't know how it's employed exactly, but don't most states there already have at-will employment where they can get rid of people for no/very little reason anyway?

I agree, and quite like Gitlab, but Github's recent decision to allow free private repos has surely put a bit of a dent in Gitlab/Bitbucket's marketshare expansion - many people were using those services instead of Github just for that feature.

There's a few I follow (VeChain, Monero, Nano, GET) but like you I find it quite hard to imagine more than a handful that could realistically achieve the aim(s) they've set out to do.

I think most people have worked at somewhere that sucked, but even some cases (e.g. Uber) can still make a lot of us step back and wonder how a workplace managed to become that toxic.

Also "unfinished jobs" shouldn't be getting merged in the first place. If you see something unrelated to the feature you're working on in that particular commit, make a ticket on JIRA/Other and address it in a separate commit/PR.

Not really taken advantage of in my case, but it can sometimes feel like you need to "prove yourself" that little bit extra (maybe the guilt of not being seen?) and end up working longer due to that

'Cultural fit' is quite hard to define - sadly the phrase has a lot of negative connotations as too many people have used it to filter for people who 'look/act/think like me' or to make sure the person will regularly attend company drinks otherwise be ostracised (one example).

A more positive way to think of it could be to search for people who work well as a team, treat others fairly regardless of their role, like/employ transparency and so on.

It's sad to see these washed-up 40 year olds drag the place under with their poor team work.

I haven't seen any evidence that the whole lone-wolf programming mindset has anything to do with age. Bad habits can develop over years for sure but I've seen plenty of teenage interns stubbornly refuse to adhere to coding styles/company practices despite plenty of reminders, for example.

Intellij IDEA for everything. The plugins for IDEA aren't far enough behind Jetbrains more language-specific IDE's (e.g. WebStorm or PyCharm) for me to mind much.

Plus it's nice to just have one go-to IDE for dev imo.
