If I want to read general news there are plenty of feeds for that. I think some great articles covering non-tech topics deserve to be on the front page, but stuff like you posted does not seem that remarkable.

also note that this is a very US centric view, I'm living in Europe and I have not heard much about this trial, nor am I extremely interested day-to-day politics in the US. Again plenty of great places to read and talk about north American politics, HN is more than that.

I feel like the field you are getting into (workspace productivity/office collab) us extremely competitive and there are many huge players. Most people don't use this stuff outside of work and there it is usually mandated by forces outside of our control. That being said if you can stay alive long enough and listen to users it could work, I have tried it but looks neat.

I feel like this is the case for soo mamy loading bars. Especially with games. Loading bar zips to 99% and then you wait for a few minutes. Yea right. I guess it is really hard not to make it frustrating.

I think it's fair to call it milk. It's definitely not a beverage as a soda or beer would be.

It used to be "secretion from the mammary glands of certain farm animals" but you can rephrase it to "liquid that is taken from a particular protein source — a coconut, a soy[bean], a cow, a goat..."

While I agree with many of the points I think it's hard to generalize like channel = bad. It does make sense to have topic based channels for more specialized topics and some for more generalized socialising. It is a fine line though and better less channels than too many.

As an avid cow milk drinker (consume it daily with oats/muesli) switching to plant milk was easy. Cow milk tastes richer and more flavourful though. But I enjoy the wheat(?) and spelt(?) based milk also rice, coconut and soy. For some reason the almond and cashew ones taste a bit weird to me.

It's been great to learn that cow milk can be substituted so easily, still get it sometimes for the taste though.

I feel as a writer we place too much thought in the headline. If you have a clear goal in mind the headline will emerge.

Apologies if this is not quite on topic, but this definition of shame really spoke to me:

“When a person feels that he or she is becoming his or her undesired or feared self.”

I feel like a lot of my motivation to better myself and help improve my environment comes from that feeling. It's as if i have a very clear picture of who/what i dont want to become, but not so clear on what the "ideal me" would be.

Is this something that motivates HN as well or do you try to realize an ideal(?) version of you through your thoughts/actions

If you are playing for an audience (can be tiny too!) you will always be much more motivated to produce quality and improve your skills.

That being said it can also put pressure on you to the point where you also lose your joy due to stress.

I guess some middle ground can be found but as with everything that is easier said than done.

Agreed! Sometimes being restrained in what is possible opens up a myriad of ways to get creative.

Start with very very basic equipment/samples etc. and very rarely add to your setup.

It's crazy how much you can achieve with just a drum tracker, EQ, compressor and a dozen samples.

I started with Ableton about 12 years ago with zero musical training and consistently am having fun with it mostly learning by doing. I think just playing around, seeing what sounds good can get you incredibly far. Sometimes tutorials how to do something specific help; but I have found that there is always a million ways to achieve what sounds good to you. Very similar to code.

Tl;dr: Experiment with Ableton, you can have a lot of fun just f**ing around.

Sorry for the off topic question: Do you think specialising in one type of baked good e.g. coconut cake and offering delivery of handmade, high quality goods to a small subscriber base would work? I estimated would need to ship several cakes per day, so it does seem hard to make a living of it
