I think this is an important article that provides a framework how to think and navigate what’s happening.

What upset me a bit were phrases like “This is not a slogan. It’s a framework” which immediately devalued the work for me.

I have read so much Ai generated text recently, that I developed some AI-fatigue or AI-burnout, and I’m wondering if that might hit more fields - making more humans reject Ai work.

To be clear, I still like the text and I don’t know if it was written (partially) by Ai or not - but it’s this uncanny feeling I got reading it.

But why using an encoder model instead of a BERT based model? For a pure classification that should be easier to train and work quite well

I hope Europe does this for real. I’m wondering how this privacy nightmare is eroding our standards so easily.

I think this is a super important point. Working on ai I’m really wondering where this will actually end in the case of our media consumption, AI is being used to generate more engaging content, this will imply ai will be almost a requirement to stay visible, so more ai will be used. In the end little to no “real content” will make it through.

Will there be a moment where people will leave social networks to get “real content” again? Will that be safe from AI optimization then?

Intellectually many want this. But the feed shortcuts our reptile brain and gains more engagement minutes / day.

I’m not sure if that’s actually a “shortcut” to the reptile brain and it’s just about “I have to scroll more to get stuff I’m interested in. At least for me it feels like that and it causes me to use these social media things far less.

I just wondered about the following (unrelated) triggered by this: Am I entitled under GDPR to get the internal writeups on my interview performance when I interviewed at a company? Does it matter whether I am in the EU but interview at a US company?

I like these challenges, where people rebuild stuff low level and “line efficient” (not saying this is a good idea in general). This makes me curious and I can learn a lot from these examples.

I was a bit disappointed though to see that this code used SDL for sprites and more stuff though. That’s not 1000 lines anymore imo. Still the code was an interesting read.

I have to say, Facebook at work was probably the best thing I ever used for collaboration and knowledge sharing. It was so much better than slack, I never understood why people wanted this chat style for group communication.

For Apple - maybe, but they also recently open sourced some of their models. For Google: they host and want to make money on the models by you using them on their platform.

Meta has no interest in that but directly benefits from advancements on top of Llama.
