I've been working on Nomie for around 5 years. It started out as a vanilla JS app, then ported to Ionic 1/Cordova, then ported to Ionic 2/Cordova, then ported to React Native...

Nomie 4 is now a combination of all previous versions ported to SvelteJS - which I am absolutely loving.

Constantly worried about hackers... the "how i'm stealing your credit card data" post brought my level of stress to the max.

I don't think I'll ever stop tracking and continue to use Nomie. Since it's purely offline and device only, like Alien Blue it should keep chugging for a while.

Nomie let you track anything you wanted. You created different trackers like: Drank Coffee, Peed, Smoked Crack - you customized the inputs, then with a single tap could track your life away. Then you could see how the things you track affect one another.

I built Nomie (https://nomie.app) over the last 5 years, the data that people track with it IS INSANELY personal. So much that the stress wore me out and I ended up shutting it all down 2 months ago.

I'd love to sell it, but I'm too afraid of giving it to the wrong people. Every investor or potential buyer wanted Nomie for the users data, not because it was actually helping people - GTFO.

I've currently (slowly) migrating from Dropbox and BTSync to Syncthing. I'd say you might have a glitch in the matrix if BTSync is running that high without any active transfers.

I'm that guy and I always have my phone. But, I'd be willing to bet that from a standstill with nothing in our hands, I could write down a task to my Corbinizer faster than you can find the app, launch it, type it in and save.

I was excited about Siri as a final replacement for the Corbinizer, but even now I'd rather not scream my tasks at my phone during a meeting.

In my humble opinion, firing off an email is a lost cause. HR folks are blasted all the time and it's really hard for them to "separate the wheat from the chaff" as they say.

Your idea of getting in touch with the employees is the right direction. You need to connect with someone personally from these companies. Connect with them on LinkedIn, hit them on Twitter, friend them on Facebook. Be wherever they are.

Also, consider posting your resume and cover-letter within a Hacker News posting asking for advice... oh wait...

If you can let it run without it taking your time, then let it run. You never know what could happen in 6 months or a year. I have a few websites that I completely ignored and just let run, over time some of them slowly but steadily started generating revenue.

I've been planning out/working on an home router app for the last 2 years. But I'm only used to pushing bits, not atoms.

I'd love to hear how someone successfully released and launched an embedded system. +!
