Would it be as simple as setting up a server in someone's house and then splitting the cost of electricity and internet? Yes on 22 spent nearly $300 million on the campaign, along with utilizing their established network of apps to tell CA residents to vote yes on 22. The comparison isn't at all equivalent. Uber et al used their vast resources to essentially purchase a law and it's astounding to me that anyone would defend them for it.

As a younger person who hasn't seen many of the celebrities I grew up with pass away, this is probably one of the first celebrity deaths that really affected me. I grew up watching Grant and the whole MythBusters crew. The show was hugely influential and definitely guided me towards an interest in science and engineering.

Whenever I think about the science of the MythBusters, I always bring up this xkcd comic.[1]

I think science tends to have an ivory tower issue, and those who don't get the resources growing up to be included in standard academic science may feel left out. People like Grant and shows like the MythBusters made the viewers feel included, and instead of just talking down to the viewer about a bunch of facts, the show included them into the process of discovery. I think that's really cool and important.

I'm not familiar with 5G infrastructure at all really, but a friend of mine brought up that they were worried about China beating the US to 5G deployment because if China did so, other counties would be more likely to use Chinese tech to setup their own 5G networks. This in turn would pose security issues as there seems to be concern over whether or not China could be trusted not to use their tech as spyware. Is anyone familiar with the issue who can speak more on this?

These political donations have externalities beyond the single policy that a person, Google, or any company may be donating for. If Google absolutely had to donate to one of several politicians and this was the lesser evil, that would be understandable. This is not the case. Companies don't need to donate to have political influence: Apple doesn't and they do fine.

Supporting a politician financially who also happens to support conversion camps in the end is still supporting all those policies, whether or not that was the initial intent.

I assume to tell the gay people in your life that you would rather they didn't exist? When you support money flowing to politicians who support policies like conversion camps, the message you are sending is clear. If Google or others want to convince politicians who support backwards policies to change their ways, they can still engage with them, but there is absolutely no need to financially support then.

The way the title was phrased made it seem like there was a weird bug that only affected the number 14. Extremely bad title.

In order to keep your brain making new connections and keeping them active, you need to keep moving on to another challenging activity as soon as you reach the point of mastery in the one you are engaging in.

Mastery may be too strong of a word here but the intention is definitely clear. It seems to me that certain activities are more suited to naturally force novelty on someone. Musicianship comes to mind, as when one finishes learning a piece, they can advance to a more challenging one, which would be considered 'novel'.
