Yeah, it's all client side. Which is why I was able to just leave and forget about it for so long. Was hosted on an S3 bucket. There's tons of libraries out there that does client side compression/decompression. Just search through github! :-)

Can relate. I built a little web utility back in 2009. Did practically nothing with it (occasional updates every 2/3 years) and it slowly accumulated inbound links and google ranking. Then finally in 2019 I decided to put a bit more effort into it. Now I make my living from it! :-)

I like that I can embed a bit of vue code into an existing web page. Bit like old school javascript. AngularJS 1.x was like that too and the inspiration for Vue. React/Angular require a whole build process with NPM/webpack etc etc to create a SPA.

Netbeans 8 is great for HTML5/JS work as well. Been using the beta version for AngularJS development the past 2 months.

Tcl might've been elegant but StoryServer most certainly wasn't. Http variables automatically injected into the code was a particularly fun security risk. I've built a basic poker tracker with AngularJS/FileReader API called PokerStoker.com. Was just about expecting to see the same! :-) At the moment its sitting on HD waiting for me to polish it off. That statement in the article is quite disingenuous. 30 seconds is a comfortable win but not something to get excited about. The front runners routinely lap the poorer teams, so it's hardly "fractions of a second".

Aah, ok. Seems stupid to sue as the site promotes the songs (via iTunes, etc...) but the music industry aren't exactly known for rational decision making.

Has the site been put down? Why didn't you keep it as a fun little side project? I don't understand why the goal has to always be a $17 million exit. I've built things like facetache.com and openingthemes.tv cause I thought they were fun, not for some massive financial windfall.
