I'm not buying this (in the USA). I've been in my breaker box. For a typical 110 volt outlet, the black (hot) wire is connected to the breaker, which is connected to one of the wires coming into the house from the street. The white (neutral) wire is connected to the same ground bracket that the bare (ground) wire is connected to.

240 volt connections (like my dryer and range) are taking a hot line from one of the lines coming into the house and another hot line from the other line coming into the house. You can see it on the bus bars in the breaker box. That's why dual breakers are used. Adjacent breakers pull for different bus bars.

I just tend to recognize the patterns in any timeframe. They're everywhere. If I were a day trader, that was a trade I would have taken, but I don't have the patience to sit and stare at the screen like that all day.

So is their argument that by including their hostname in easylist, you are circumventing copyright controls because they validate copyrighted material usage? The takedown notice didn't seem to be related to the domain name per se, but rather the effects of including it in easylist. IOW in order to view our client's copyrighted material, we are providing access controls and by denying the code access to our server, you are circumventing those access controls.

I had the same problem. Verizon's solution was to install FIOS. They didn't want to spend the time or money to fix the underground copper.

I think this kind of gets to the nut of the whole discussion here on HN. Everyone's talking about whether or not what the Yes Men did was legal, but IMO, the question is why did DO take them down over a legal threat ("...the NRA sent a legal complaint...")? The vice article was pretty ambiguous, but if this was a suit or court order, CloudFlare wouldn't be able to "pass." This apparently wasn't a court order, nor was it a DCMA takedown (or Vice's writing is just really bad). And it looks like youtube told them to come back with a court order.

What does that $1M actually cover though?

This. I can't believe how the media/government has completely bought into the fact that the creditor (bank) failed to do proper due diligence in order to verify who they are extending credit to. And to make it seem like it's the fault of the person being impersonated is absurd. SSN as a password was the single biggest banking failure ever committed, aside from what happened in the 2000's mortgage debacle.

I wonder if his copy has a notice of copyright recorded. If not, and the NFL doesn't have a copy, how can they prove that the notice was affixed during the broadcast?

When I was contracting (pre-Obamacare), I joined my local Chamber of Commerce and that made me eligible for their group plan with the local BCBS (family plan). Started with a PPO. Eventually downgraded to an HMO due to costs.

The software on my 2011 Samsung "smart" TV has always sucked and is unusable. My initial reaction was that they went cheap on the processor (the network connection is hard-wired). It's just too slow to be usable and Youtube never played properly. I just want more HDMI ports at this point. I don't mind the external devices. With the revelation of the ad delivery, I have no interest in doing a software upgrade.

Same for me, but our Teletype Model 33 had to use a 300 baud acoustic coupler to connect to the HP.

I first encountered these checkpoints in New Mexico and Texas this summer. They're really kind of interesting. It looks like a truck weigh station, except the interstate lanes are closed and everyone is forced to exit. They stop everyone at the checkpoint. They have some kind of terminal under a hood, but the officer (C&BP) looked at the terminal, asked me what country I'm from (USA) and sent me on my way (I'm white, and so were all of my passengers). The license reader cameras were obvious and about 4 car lengths from the terminal/stop sign. There's a separate line for trucks and busses. I was stunned the first time I saw one driving from Albuquerque to Las Cruces south on I-25/US-85. It was only on the northbound side, about 40 miles north of Las Cruces. It was obvious what it was. I encountered others on US-70 and I-10 in TX. Same drill at every one. I was never stopped by the officer for more than 15 seconds.

That would make an interesting container for a RPi.
