Despite being intangible like communications, transactions are perhaps better evidence that something tangible has happened or is about to happen.

Important to remember the government itself might be the worst actor. Trump busy doing favours for Saudi Arabia who murder & hack up a reporter. Imagine the favours if he had access to those keys via his corrupt DOJ. Terrifying.

The left CTRL key snapped in half on mine after ~8 months. While under warranty, I was told I had to send the whole thing away, 2-4 weeks. That was difficult to accept. I've had to occasionally re Sellotape it since then.

Later the tablet battery stopped charging, then stopped being recognised altogether. This means the screen cannot be detached without sticking a pin into a vent. This requires power down and I imagine not good to do frequently. I read it is a manufacturing default that won't be fixed.

After much inner wrestling I replaced it with a Lenovo. It had a hardware issue early on, but they sent an engineer around to my private residence within a few days with a spare part to fix it. Night and Day.

Never again.

Agree. Regional licensing restrictions (music & video) and timed availability (video) seem to be lingering issues for legal streaming services and until they're solved/ forgotten the Popcorn Times will always have a place.

If you overhaul your code you release it first as a free demo (old language; beta), then discontinue it as you release a feature-matched-update to the single paid for version you maintain.

This reduces new features to an individual cost upgrade and ensures your existing users aren't left with an unsupported version.

This is actually a very good result for the consumer. (I'm thinking premium applications such as Audio, Photoshop etc.)

In europe we use chip and pin, so a fake app could collect the pin directly. If someone was to harvest 30 cards with pin, could they then visit an atm directly? Perhaps I'm underestimating the difficulty of cloning cards. If that is possible, CVV2 would be unnecessary.

I hear your point about normal credit card terminals being available. As a european I wouldn't expect to see one on a stall by the side of a road though, and would normally be suspicious of anyone suggesting that they accept credit cards under these conditions.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but desensitising the general public to devices that their card is being scanned through (and occasions where that might be appropriate) will surely lead to to an increase in card fraud.

What's to stop someone jailbreaking an ipad, writing a custom fake ui, clipping in a square scanner, and writing off a days worth of cheap merchandise down at the park for a haul of card details?

If this becomes common, will credit card companies still offer the same guarantees on transactions?
