On 1 vs many,I think its totally reasonable to start with 1 given you are a small team. If you force yourself with high standard (which takes lots of extra person-hours), then you lose the key agility compared with other bigger players.

I think that's probably because Apple doesn't even know that backroads existed so Apple Maps couldn't optimize the route.

The second point is part of the reason why we don’t want to use Airflow’s k8s operator.

Thank you for the argument. Indeed I haven't thought about the fact that most people will not reach management level, not to mention VP or CXO level.

I guess another way to phrase my understanding is that: if your (possibly unattainable) career ambition is to reach CTO level, you should know that in the past, very rarely is that achieved with 2-year job jumping.

If your goal is to get steady compensation growth, probably job switching can give you that. And that is also probably what most of people should do anyways.

I agree with the thesis of this post.

Take a step back. A more objective fact is that most CEOs/CTOs reached their positions not because they optimized the two-year role jumping. It's either from a long tenure with a company or from founding a successful startup and got acquired.

Very rarely can one reach VP level by simply jumping around. One's past loyalty becomes a non-trivial factor for positions at that level.

The news I read yesterday [0] (from Hey's founder?) painted Apple as the obvious villain.

Today's news (the above link) shows a slightly differnet picture.

"The Hey Email app is marketed as an email app on the App Store, but when users download your app, it does not work," Apple said in a letter to Basecamp CEO Jason Fried on Thursday. "Users cannot use the app to access email or perform any useful function until after they go to the Basecamp website for Hey Email and purchase a license to use the Hey Email app."

Basically Hey doesn't work as a standalone free app. The user has to download it AND subscribe somehow. Apple basically dictates, the developers either 1) offer some Reader-like free features, or 2) pay the Apple tax and build the subscription feature with IAP.

I am not saying the 30% tax is justifiable.

The logic behind Apple's rejection doesn't seem completely unreasonable to me.

I am in the same boat.

I used to only order from Seamless or UberEats because their "streamlined" experience.

But now that I am hearing so many terrible things that these VC-backed startups are doing to small restaurants, I now specifically look for the restaurant's website, or even just call them directly and order a takeout.

Not sure if I'd agree with this. In my neighborhood, there are already multiple confirmed cases (some a few blocks away).

The only way to minimize my (and therefore my family's) exposure to the virus is to avoid any external contact. Encountering 10 people for one grocery trip versus 40 people over 4 separate trips. Statistically, I'd take the one-trip option.

Start from the email notification. They have been asking themselves the easy questions.
