I built Youtarr, a self-hosted “YouTube DVR” for people who care about clean, media-server-correct libraries. This originated because I did not want to give my kids direct access to YouTube, but still wanted to allow them to access a selected set of channel videos via Plex and slowly evolved into something that I think is worth sharing. It automates channel subscriptions, scheduled downloads, and metadata so Plex/Jellyfin/Emby/Kodi can display the downloaded videos nicely :)

I realize there are some other projects out there that are similar, like PinchFlat, but think this is worth sharing. When I initially created it PinchFlat didn't exist.

This is a hobby project and I have a lot of things on my roadmap, but I'd be interested to get feedback from people here on HN. I have a fairly straightforward guide in my README as well as screenshots.

Anyhow, I hope others might find this useful. If you find bugs that are not in my issues list, please submit and I will try to address as I have time :)

I know this is a totally shameless post, but I am not asking for any money. I just hope this benefits some other developers.

I agree 100%. The first step is to actually GET specs/requirements in the first place, which I have found to be sadly lacking in many cases.

Really consider whether you think the investment is worthwhile as well. I work as a programmer in the industry and have for the past 6 years. About 1/2 the people I work with did not get a college degree (including myself). If she already has a fair amount of knowledge and is self motivated, the high cost of college may not be worth it.

At most of these conferences many of the attendees DO go out to the local bars after the conference hours are over for the day. I assume at that point "normal" bar behaviour is OK?
