It's surprising that GitHub is significantly putting out much more innovation after the open-source repos moving to GitLab fiasco of a year or so ago. Are there any changes that can explain this besides more incentive?

The v2.6 open access issue in MongoDB is no new revelation, and has been rehashed over and over again. It's worth noting that this post comes from a company that profits from convincing its customers that the products they are using are insecure.

A programming language "is said to be Turing complete or computationally universal if it can be used to simulate any single-taped Turing machine" [1]. This author doesn't seem to understand this concept properly.

Problematic stab at engineers. I don't think people go into software because they prefer computers to humans.

Unfortunately this writer does not understand the boot loader security on iOS. Since Apple's signing key is burned into the device, Apple is the only one who can modify its functionality by loading new firmware. Even in that case, the only firmware that can be modified without unlocking the device is the lowest level boot loader, which likely has numerous size and functionality limitations, as all the device features probably are not enabled. I would not deem this a flaw in device design. If Apple creates a signed piece of software that allows for a brute force exploit, it is creating a backdoor for the FBI.

Surprised Wired is writing about this. Scientist is a great release from GH. I think the technique is powerful, but not particularly novel.

The A9X didn’t come out of nowhere. Watching Apple’s A-series chips gain on x86 over the past five years, we’ve all been speculating about whether Apple might someday start using ARM chips in MacBooks. As of now, it’s only a question of whether they want to.

The most interesting point of this review in my opinion. x86 is hampered by backwards-compatibility. Could anyone comment on some of the more technical CPU architecture reasons for this? Do A64 CPUs have potential to outpace x86_64 processors in power consumption and performance simply because of the architecture?

You easily could have this in SQL if you designed a poor schema or failed to migrate data from the previous field name.

While the behavior of the men involved in this story is inappropriate, the responding behavior–"the 'wins' in this bit of a gender clash"—are just as detrimental to building a unified community. Having more women in the software industry would be great for everyone, however I don't know if this kind of response is the best way to do it.

It's a difficult problem, and one that exists in plenty of communities outside of technology. While it's unreasonable to expect completely equal representations of each gender, more can be done to make women feel welcome. Most of which is just men acting professional.

That said, sexualization of either gender will never disappear until we start producing children as the World State does.

It would be interesting to hear more about where Overture and Ember diverge. The templating system is a clear difference, however with Ember moving to HTMLBars, which emits DOM instead of string, I'm not sure how relevant the innerHTML performance comparison is.
