Agree with this totally, additionally if you are unsure if you will proceed with an idea with no users, getting something done and receiving feedback as fast as possible is better than doing it perfectly the first time.

That said at my last company after 12 months we hired a few engineers so we had to transition to requiring tests for new functionality. This was just to stop regressions and make sure we could continue moving quickly.

Last company, no tests for the first 6 months. Current company after 2 months, have some unit tests for complicated parts in place, will start writing tests once bugs are resolved.

I guess it really depends on what your company is doing, experience of the team and the language/tech you are using.

We aren't a video as we are recording the DOM directly so can still interact with the UI as well as perform replacements/updates quite easily.

Thanks! We have engineers based in the US, EU/UK and AUS at the moment. Agree that timezones outside of 5 hours is tricky but I think we do a decent job.

For this sort of work I found using a lambda function with a trigger on s3 upload works very well, aws-lambda-image seems like a popular project to use instead of writing your own code https://github.com/ysugimoto/aws-lambda-image

We didn't select MySQL on the basis of having SequelPro obviously, that would be insane. However if you are still using MySQL and want to switch over to PostgreSQL (like us) a major reason not to be not having SequelPro. Most other factors about PostgreSQL are better but just not enough for the effort to migrate to be worthwhile.

Agreed, Sequel Pro is far above anything I've seen in Postgres and is the primary reason we are still using MySQL in production - business team just love Sequel Pro too much

Very useful tool, will definitely send people who want a new computer here as their first stop. Unfortunately the website doesn't open very nicely in Safari - seems fine in Chrome though
