Does mastodon have a tool that can create regular back ups to email to you??? Seems relevant for a common problem like this

So mastondon is an open source twitter clone right? is there anything out there yet or in the works that is more in line with Facebook's product offerings with out the surveillance and tracking?

Major problem with a heavily underfunded understaffed company, they simply don't have the resources to put up any kind of legal resistance to this type of judicial pressure.

For Linux cli tools the obvious (to me) answer is IoT devices. These devices are typically pretty lacking in terms of hardware capabilities. So for common tools having them as small as possible allows them to be distributed on a wider range of devices.

I'd argue he didn't pay his debt to society and was not rehabilitated. His previous sentence and it's execution were a complete joke. It's well documented that he continued to keep incredibly young companions and surrounded himself with plenty of "art" of scantily clad very young women.

Even if both of those had been appropriate, his sentence fair and he was making obvious efforts to avoid past behavior, you couldn't be sure that you weren't taking money that was generated from the trafficking of other human beings. That's where Ito fucked up, plain and simple.

I think your point about rehabilitation and "paying one's debt to society" is very valid. Unfortunately in Epstein's case the punishment hardly fit the crime, ultimately he served 13 out of an 18 month sentence. Ito visited Epstein several times at Epstein's residences, which all apparently are plastered with enough "art" to make someone question if he really was a "reformed" sex offender. It should be perfectly clear to everyone that Ito understood two things: Epstein wasn't rehabilitated and Ito could claim enough plausible deniability if his dirty laundry ever got aired. His apology would be more meaningful if he actually donated to charities out of his own pocket rather than promising to externally raise funds...

This is worse than virtue signaling imo. It's more like public image disaster response. The only reason this apology is going out is because Media Lab/Epstein relationship is getting mentioned publicly and in the press.

This apology would've meant something had it happened a month ago. Or if had any substance beyond vague usage of the words apology and sorry.

I totally disagree. Joi began his financial relationship with Epstein in 2013, well after Epstein became a publicly known sex offender. Either Joi didn't do his due diligence (doubtful) or ignored the facts that surrounded Epstein and decided to assume the risk of working with known sex trafficker.

This is damage control pure and simple and without tact. Had this been disclosed say a month earlier as the new criminal case began to form, this apology might actually mean something other than "Shit now everyone sees this putrid stink cloud is hanging around me too."

A few people mention an issue with the word unusual. While it actually attracted my attention in a positive way, finding that the intent of the site is to connect those with atypical mental health concerns was quite different from what I was expecting. Maybe an "online community for atypical people" would be better wording?

Just a thought, maybe a weekly or monthly email subscription with updates of whats been added?

I feel like if I buy official parts, they shouldn't require modding to get the max performance out of the product. They should work without issue together. Currently you can barely get moderate performance with the official case.

This article and mod are helpful, even if obvious, for people like me who bought an official case with my RPi4 expecting them to work well together.

Yeah snagging the official case was a big let down imo. Having to modify it just so the board will operate for a generic use case was a sad moment for me. Glad to see your solution though, time to bust out my old hole saw kit!

I've been in the Dev world for about 4 years now. When I started I was also undertaking a reorganization of my life as well. Tracking all this was initially done digitally, but I found myself too often forgetting to update those digital mediums because of screen burn out. I actually use a system exactly like yours, though I have 3 notebooks: Engineering work notebook, A page a day dated listing my todos for the day and any insights when solving them; Daily/Weekly planner to track appointments and keep myself on task with personal goals; and a personal journal to record thoughts and feelings on everything from daily life to large philosophy questions.

The one thing I wish it did have a search function lol.

EDIT: A big reason I pushed away from digital and on to physical was distractions. Paper notebooks dont have the majority of human knowledge and world events just a click away.

I'd add that it's the the incredibly immature economic system, paired with an even more immature(new) industry that leads to this kind of failure.

I feel like this is a symptom of tech in capitalism. Where the goal is to maximize profits and minimize effort, rather than doing the job correctly. Fitting that this would befall a high freq trading firm.
