I remember putting Street Fighter and Drug Wars on my TI-82.
I haven’t in a bit only because buying a house has stretched me thin, but hope to start putting money in again in a few months.
I've been loading up since 2006-2007... every quarter I get more shares from dividends. Also bought META at IPO.
I only had to sell AAPL/META for a downpayment.
I lived there for 13 years.... loved my officer house
Quiet, safe, neighbors all know each other and hang out. Quick access to Inner Richmond and Marina for food. Walk to Off the Grid (pre COVID) on Thursdays and Sundays. Presidio downtown shuttle takes you to BART/SOMA in 20-30 minutes.
Why can't I see hidden files or folders like .circleci?
That's a tax on new construction which will reduce it. Tax all homeowners equally.
We had weekly scene reports that ranked the FTP sites and groups. It also covered the drama, politics, group mergers or closures, and personal stories (under anonymity though). You got ranked by your performance on the sites that counted towards points. In order to upload files to a top 5 site, you would have to get into release groups and get the "pre", in other words, you get first dibs at uploading the files. Europe had the fastest internet connections especially Swedish and Finnish universities. Top 5 EU FTP sites were the most important. Followed by the top 5 US which were primarily hosted at Internet2 universities such as CMU, Georgia Tech, MIT, and Virginia Tech. These FTP sites were the first place any cracked release would be uploaded to. Almost like the root DNS servers for internet.
I dropped out to focus on college and then all the FBI busts happened. I work in tech now. I lost touch with most people.
I can still find my name and groups in the scene reports that have been archived on defacto2.
The program already ran out of money. $300m for 2300 buyers. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-04-08/californ...

I think another attempt to reform prop 13 will happen in 2024.
Dense housing on the coast would be more democratic than expensive single family homes.
I've been getting bombarded by recruiter emails. Sometimes from different recruiters on the same day.
CA is working on mixed income public housing. I think it will avoid the faults of the previous projects we built. See AB 2053.
If you'd like to get a taste of what NIMBYs are like, this thread covers the Livable California meeting today. https://twitter.com/cafedujord/status/1510302326837301252?s=...
Affordable units in SF cost $700-800k.
If we want to fix teacher's salaries, we need to reform prop 13. The OUSD funding issues could have been solved if prop 15 was passed.
You're right if supply was corrected all over the region, prices would drop and it would be more affordable.
You can't "affordable housing" your way to cheaper housing or rent. It can help with reducing displacement, but it increases the cost of the market rate units. The overall problem is a lack of supply. Portland recently passed an IZ ordinance and it had devastating effects on new housing construction.
Today's low income housing was yesterday's market rate housing. Single family homes do not have affordability requirements and never have any issues with zoning. Multi family housing does but then it has all these fees and affordable requirements placed on it, making it more expensive than it should be and reducing the potential output in # of units.
Ok, I'll revisit this thread when rates are 5% and inventory jumps back to 1.5m.
Do people put roots down and become locals in the other 49 states?
US housing inventory just hit historic lows of 860k. It was 1.5m pre-pandemic. https://twitter.com/LoganMohtashami/status/15031205369098035...
US housing inventory is 860k which is at historic lows compared to 1.5m pre-pandemic. It's a housing supply issue. Salt Lake City and Missoula are up 45% YOY with inventories down 40-50%.
Ski towns should have prioritized apartments and condos in dense villages to make proper transit in town and from the city make sense. Instead they allowed mostly large single family homes.
