For a long time Vegas was my only reason for keeping a PC. I still miss it. Da Vinci is fine, but it's still optimized for professional video editors, which means lots of weird concepts & things which should be easy are hard if you don't understand the history. Vegas' heritage is audio, so it's very fluid for taking a "compositional" approach to video, which makes it great for making music videos.
I’m using this too. You get all the JUCE stuff with a web frontend, and it uses the system web view so no huge Chromium binary. The downside is there’s no OS bindings out of the box, you have to provide everything via your native bridge.
If vibe coding means more silly fish-drawing apps in the world then I’m 100% for it.
Im going to think about this comment a lot today. Not in a “thoughts & prayers” way, just because this makes me so happy & proud for humanity, that we can do actually worthwhile things like this together. That’s the kind of stuff I want to think about on my silly made-up Dad holiday. Cheers!
I want to skip all the debate and just have someone tell me what setup I need to get to here:
Kids today don’t just use agents; they use asynchronous agents. They wake up, free-associate 13 different things for their LLMs to work on, make coffee, fill out a TPS report, drive to the Mars Cheese Castle, and then check their notifications. They’ve got 13 PRs to review. Three get tossed and re-prompted. Five of them get the same feedback a junior dev gets. And five get merged.
I was a bit surprised by this article as it actually contradicts the account I always heard, which was their main vocal effect was a Roland VP-9000. If you listen to e.g. Harder Faster the effect is somewhere in between a vocoder & autotune, so I assumed that was the VP-9000. That said, this guy has clearly done his homework (pun intended) so I'm inclined to accept his version of events.
I am constantly confused by text editors pitching themselves on speed. Is the world really full of developers going crazy with frustration because they’re waiting on vs code to do something? I opened a 100,000 line text file a few days ago & it rendered in like half a second, considering I do this about once a year it’s really more than good enough.
A brief explainer I should really have submitted with the link:
- PlatformIO already has "official" support for the RasPi Pico board, with Arduino
- However almost everyone prefers and uses the "unofficial" earlephilhower/arduino-pico integration which adds a ton of features and is well documented
- A PR to add this integration to the PIO registry has been outstanding for over two years now
- In the last week or so the PlatformIO CEO has posted that they will not be merging the PR
- My understanding of their reasoning is that RasPi needs to pay PIO to support the branch going forward? The language is rather vague with a lot of talk about "communities" and "values" so I could be wrong about this, please don't sue me
- RasPi's response is basically "LOL no" since they are all-in on their horrible CMake toolchain and don't care about PIO
I was trying to be even-handed. I'm generally of the opinion that PlatformIO should merge the PR on the condition that it be maintained by the community - which seems reasonable considering PIO is supposed to be an open-source project - but it's also a complicated situation involving a bunch of negotiations I'm not party to, so I wanted to avoid passing judgement.

Of course Joe & Jane Average's outraged howls of "it's not art!" are the precise reason why Prince is so rich & awesome. What you think is a critique is in fact the entire value proposition.
