There are two types of "solo":

Both are hard.

I visited a food service company a couple years ago. They had phone reps taking orders from customers (restaurants ordering produce and such). They used a TUI (a "green screen" essentially).

I have never seen people move through a GUI that fast. They were lightning quick with it. They were like an veteran accountant with a ten-key adding machine. It was amazing, and pretty damn sobering when you think how much work we spend on GUIs.

I've been a PC guy my whole live, and was forced onto a MacBook Pro this year for work.

The battery life is insane. The idea of charging my laptop has become this weird ritual now, only known of in lore and legend, that I partake of only when there is a blood moon.

I was transforming XML with, like, three lines of VBScript in classic ASP.

Actually, I don't love this. To me, the examples in red are much more helpful -- they explain, in bare terms, what was actually done. The examples in green feel like a marketing exercise to me. Like they're trying to wrap or obscure clear writing in something to obfuscate it.

"Added 'duplicate' button to the event menu" is kind of exactly what I want to read.

I don't know -- maybe have both kinds? A simple, bare-bones set, and then an... "embellished" set?

Literally just a brain dump of everything I've learned about them in 20 years.

I wish someone would write this for higher-level languages: JavaScript or .NET. I'm sure this person is brilliant, but they're operating at a much lower (higher?) level than most of us.

I keep an eye on Gemini. I have a browser for it, and I look around once a month or so. It's refreshing. It represents a simpler time I'd like to go back to, occasionally.

I used the hell out of this, back in the day. We would copy websites down, then use Swish-E from the command line to index everything from the file system, then somehow make a web interface out of it. Good times.

I do love it when someone does an original take on what a "document" means. I love the intellectual exploration of it. Kudos, genuinely.

I've only ever used a free version? I've never paid for it. I think it's free for personal projects? Or at least it was...

Edit: I see it's $495 now. I don't think it was priced when I used it, but it's been 4-5 years.
