How do you think Tesla's are being sold now? They've already overturned these stupid laws in almost all the states except for Texas and a couple others. These laws were meant to restrict car dealerships from having unfair advantage over dealerships that they sold to. Tesla doesn't sell to dealerships, they sell D2C so obviously doesn't apply to them. I'm glad we're not being forced to deal with car dealerships and paying a higher price thanks to an unnecessary middleman. All others will have to follow Tesla's lead or go bankrupt.

Didn't California just pass legislation that calls for cutting down trees in forests to make them more "spread out"?

This is where they lose me. The reason why wildfires exist in the first place is because of climate change; deforestation is the opposite of fighting climate change. Very strange California taking a cue out of Trump's climate change denying book.

Copy pasting previous comment since the number of people misrepresenting the ground breaking tech that was announced is to high to spend energy on:

1)56% reduction in cost (which blows way past the $100/kwh holy grail for EV to sub $40). This by itself is insane and most people in the industry thought it wont happen for at least another decade. This puts the last nail in the coffin for the future of ICE cars.

2) 54% increase in range. The new Model S will have minimum 520mi of range and much more actually when they start production. Range anxiety gone out the window.

3) New manufacturing tech along with vertical integration will allow Tesla to scale 55x their current rate of production and become the world's largest auto manufacturer by many multiples. Tesla will not only produce their own battery cells but they're even getting into mining!!

Along with many other things announced in a 3+ hour technical video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6T9xIeZTds

Who's paying you to downplay what was actually announced?

Oculus Quest 2 6 years ago

Great review! As soon as I saw the price reduction I knew there were going to be huge compromises. Looks like I'll be sitting this one out. If FB want's to be the leader in VR, they need to get back to their roots the original Oculus team strived for - QUALITY.

Why is this article even being shared on HN let alone end up on the front page within minutes of posting? Anyone with the slightest understanding of this topic can poke holes in every single sentence in this ridiculously uninformed article. I stopped reading half way as it was making me dumber. HN can be so demoralizing sometimes. You'd think this would be the last place to find innovators being smeared but here we are...

This is really awesome. One suggestion; if you got rid of standard definition from the free plan and made it HD across the board I think it would help you in the long run from word of mouth based on the quality people see. Free version would essentially be used for word of mouth marketing so compromising quality on that could harm the brand in the long term imo. Just my two cents!

It doesn't matter what they release, they've already Osborne effected themselves as soon as they announced they're transitioning to ARM chips in a couple years

I agree. Everyone is getting destroyed economically and the government is just bailing out wall street. This shut down is just insane and needs to come to an end. The cam just make masks mandatory!
