For example, the way people's laughs sound or the fact that almost everyone is attracted to paradisiacal places are probably influenced by genes and not just culture and nurture.

I was going to buy a Kindle this week but this article is making me think twice. I thought it'd definitely be cheaper to buy books. What about PDFs? There are thousands of PDFs on the internet which you can get for free, is the quality of PDFs worse than books in kindle format? Do you have to scroll sideways or something? Or is the font smaller?

I know it's a joke and you might be right, but I don't think the need to reduce brain size would be such a huge evolutionary pressure to see a decrease of 10% in just 20,000 years, that's relatively little.

Granted that the bigger the brain, the more energy it needs, but if the brain uses 25% of our energy, 0.25*0.1= 2.5%. Even if that's wrong by a few percent, it doesn't sound like such a big advantage to cause that decrease in so little time and as it's been pointed out, it actually started happening when more food/energy was available from agriculture or whatever.

How would it be possible to discover content without searching? If I want to discover content about something I have to tell the computer what that something is about, that would be searching. If you are talking about directories, then I wouldn't use that.

It looks good but there are some bad choices in my opinion, like having transparent menu backgrounds. It decreases readability, for example on the menu "GO TO 2040", "Regional Mobility" merges with the background and it becomes hard to read.

You are right, we shouldn't interfere with nature but to me if the polar bear is lost through interbreeding it would be a loss. It's like mixing two good perfumes or two good wines, the uniqueness of each is lost to get only one unique thing.

I think it has to do with how primitive or instinctive the emotion is. I'd bet that fear is one of the oldest emotions, after all every animal experiences fear as far as I know.

Many of the other emotions are restricted to apes, specially humans. I'd say a dog can't be happy or sad, just excited or not excited. If those human emotions evolved thousands of years apart there is a good chance that they are at different parts of the brain.

The goal you stated for terrorists is not mutually exclusive with attacking economic and military targets. Bin Laden himself said that his goal is to bankrupt the US and attacking those installations would make a pretty good target for achieving that.
