I'm interested in your Kindle script. I'm curious about how you handle saving FB posts—do you just copy and paste the content, convert it to markdown, and store it in Obsidian? Would love to hear more about your process!

Does this have the ability to read the open tabs that are synced from all devices?
It's one thing to not care about the customer experience, but this update seems to forget they had customers at all. As a Canadian, I can't even find the content I spent thousands of dollars for over the past 10 years.
I don't know the job posting that the author had read, or what guided their expectations, but here is a current Shopify Senior Frontend Engineer job posting:

This job posting sounds like it lines up with author's experience at the company, and knowing Shopify is a Rails-heavy company, I would safely assume most Shopify postings look similar to this. I don't think author was bait-and-switched, author just didn't get what they _wanted_.

My current team has a senior that has been at the company for 20 years as an Analyst, she can't write a line of code without assistance. [..] And we've got a few juniors/midlevels that could out code almost anyone of the team.
I mean, there's much more to Analyst and Engineering jobs than coding, especially as you advance up the levels.

I feel like bjourne is referring to the hypocracy that society commonly accepts the Jewish practice, whereas the Muslim practice is generally rejected.

I like Basecamp's pay structure: it's static. It's more based on the role itself, and the value that role brings to the company. You're not penalized for living somewhere with a low cost of living.

Wouldn't it just be Visual Studio then? We would get updates once a year instead of once a month.
For what it's worth, the Visual Studio team now releases minor updates roughly every six weeks (including bug fixes and new features), and service updates almost weekly [1]. They also rely quite heavily on user feature requests [2].

Thanks to 2FA, I don't have a huge concern logging into a password manager on a public PC.
You pull up your password on your phone and type it in manually onto the computer.
Sounds like someone isn't using a 100-character randomly generated password.

Why block anything at all? If I want my password to be unicode and emoji, what's the downside to the site?
I assume they're hashing all the passwords anyway.

I don't know about other Password Managers, but LastPass lets you access your vault using any web browser. So long as your network doesn't block the LP site, you can access your password manager from anywhere.
So, essentially, JavaScript, JScript, and ECMAScript are three names for the same language.
This is a little wrong/misleading.
ECMAScript is the specification; JavaScript, JScript, and ActionScript, are various implementations of the specification. Each implementation provides additional features not described in ECMA specs, such as access to ActiveX and the local computer in JScript.
Care to clarify this? I've seen plenty of Agile shops that practice TDD.

I think there was some email about a free hosting account I could theoretically use with some company, but I never looked into it.
We were offered either one or three free years of hosting on a Joyent SmartMachine, depending on what your initial investment was. After this free trial, you would be converted to a regular customer.
Adding my voice to the bitter-parade. Joyent wouldn't be where they are today without us early bootstrap investors. It was basically a Kickstarter campaign before Kickstarter existed. Not only do I feel like I failed to receive my early investor benefits, but WORSE off was how the whole situation was handled. We had to beg and plead to get our data back. The company essentially went dark to all of their oldest, most loyal customers.

I don't understand what the author expected to learn by browsing someone's hobby projects/personal homepages, without seemingly engaging in a discussion with the person who wrote the code.
Note: Replying to applicants takes top priority over every other responsibility I have.
Although I don't care for his example rejection letter, I like that they actually respond to applicants whether they interview them or not. It's nice to get feedback that your CV was actually read and reviewed by a human.
