Open-source self service customer portal for Stripe

This hit home for me, thank you for sharing. I was a bit surprised that you didn't mention or explore a path outside of employment, rather chose the content path of receiving paychecks and wasting time not being very motivated to push yourself. Don't give up on your potential!

I am actively using Indie Hackers. It is a very supporting and nice community. It is very motivating for entrepreneurs. If you are building a product, you have direct access to a ton of like-minded founders who can tell you about their journey. It's for entrepreneurs.

Hi Tara, that's great. I have been working with Stripe for years and I love what you guys are doing. The integration to Stripe requires development, although I agree that the experience is painless initially. When the SaaS company grows and needs to update pricing models frequently, they need to build a dashboard on top of their Stripe integration so non-technical teams can update pricing without consuming development resources.

I spent the past two years building a product on top of Stripe. I've been wanting to show it a Stripe team member and if you are interested I would love to get your feedback on it. I was supposed to meet with Edwin Wee in SF back in July but never got to actually meet.

Here is my calendar link if you are interested to talk: https://calendly.com/servicebot/shar

0- My open source project is: https://github.com/service-bot/servicebot Website: https://servicebot.io

1- We started it because we were tired of sending manual invoices to our clients for custom web application development work. We couldn't connect our invoices, customers, and services we provided to our customers in a single place. So we built Servicebot to automate the process of invoicing through Stripe. Creating a self service portal for customers to order more work, approve existing and future work. And we open sourced.

2- We have been writing blog content to show people how Servicebot will help cut business cost but automating the billing and customer management processes.

3- We have been posting it on Medium, Reddit, HN, and a lot of word of the mouth.

4- I don't think unfair is the right word. I think it's lack of knowledge. We spent a lot more time developing a solution for our itch than to think about marketing and product roll out.

Hi all, Founder of ServiceBot here. We built this open source project since December 2016. We built it to scratch our own itch. We were a technology company and did not know how to maintain the services we were providing to our clients (hosting, domain, maintenance services, etc), and we decided to build ServiceBot (https://servicebot.io) for ourselves, and now publishing it open source for all other entrepreneurs to use it as well. Please give us your feedback and tell us how to make it better :)

This is a great website! Mainly because the quality of the designs you picked are great. My only feedback is that it was hard for me to find the button that takes me to the website for each screenshot. It was very important for me to actually find the live site rather than a screenshot. Animation, loading, transitions are big part of the design that won't be shown through a screenshot.

I'm not sure if it helps but my team an I are working on a project that you might also like the design: servicebot.io (wait for the parachutes :)

I developed this project with 4 other developers everyday for about 7 months. The idea came from an issue we had with our consulting agency after developing projects for our clients. The billing and the service lifecycle was completely disconnected. We found ourselves manually sending invoices to the customers and wasted a lot of time, and we couldn't track the future engagements on the same service. So we built ServiceBot. We created a service automation platform around Stripe, allowing companies to define their provided services, and let their customers request those services. It was a very complex and lengthy process, but this is the result of 4 years of our experience in the corporate automation world with VMware, ServiceNow, and AWS. I am so curious to hear some feedback about the platform. We appreciate any feedback.
